Intumescent battery housing
09853267 · 2017-12-26 · ·

A battery housing has a body and a lid mateable with the body. The body and the lid, when mated, provide a chamber dimensioned to hold at least one battery; and a venting passageway from the chamber. At least a portion of at least one of the body and the lid comprises an intumescent flame retardant material with an expansion ratio sufficient to drive gas from the chamber through the venting passageway and to seal the chamber when the material intumesces in the event of thermal runaway of a battery housed in the chamber.

Battery tray and battery container including the same

A battery tray and battery container including the same are disclosed. In one aspect, the battery tray includes an upper plate defining a plurality of openings each configured to accommodate a battery. The battery tray also includes a plurality of lower surfaces respectively corresponding to the openings and a plurality of lateral surfaces respectively connecting the openings in the upper plate to the lower surfaces. The upper plate, the lower surfaces, and the lateral surfaces are formed as a single piece.

Battery assembly including structural foamed materials

A battery assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a battery array and a foam shell that surrounds the battery array.

Battery pack retention assembly and retention method

An exemplary assembly includes an extrusion providing a channel that receives a portion of a battery cell frame. The extrusion is securable to a support to secure the battery cell frame relative to the support.

Waterproof removable battery

An electric storage device includes first storage modules, a second storage module, an attachment part, and a holding frame. The first storage modules includes one first storage module and another first storage module. The attachment part has an attachment surface on which the first storage modules are mounted. The holding frame is disposed between the one first storage module and the second storage module to hold the second storage module. The holding frame includes a first frame member and a second frame member. The first frame member has a first bottom portion connected to the attachment surface. The second frame member has a second bottom portion connected to the attachment surface such that the second bottom portion is disposed between the attachment surface and a lower part of the another first storage module.

Bus bar assembly including biased bus bar

An assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a plurality of battery cells and a bus bar assembly received over the plurality of battery cells. The bus bar assembly comprises a housing, a bus bar received within the housing and a retention device disengageable from the bus bar to move the bus bar between a first position and a second position.

Busbar thermal management assembly and method

An exemplary busbar assembly includes a first layer, and a second layer having a portion that contacts the first layer and a portion that is spaced from the first layer to provide an opening between the first layer and the second layer. An exemplary method of managing thermal energy includes contacting a first layer and a second layer in a first area of a busbar, and separating, in a second area of the busbar, the first layer from the second layer to provide an opening between the first layer and the second layer.

AUTONOMOUS UNDER WATER POWER SUPPLY DEVICE

An energy supply apparatus may be modular and can be used underwater. In some examples, the modules comprise pressure vessels. The modules are chosen independently of each other from a group comprising a battery module, a fuel cell module, and air-independent Diesel module. The pressure vessels may be cylindrical and may have spherical segments disposed at ends segments of the pressure vessels. One or more of the spherical segments of the pressure vessels may be configured to be swiveled. Modules that are configured as battery modules may include battery elements, an inverter, a battery monitoring system, a separating unit, a control unit, a transformer, and/or a cooling unit.

BATTERY SYSTEM

A battery system includes a plurality of battery cells; a busbar that is laser-welded to electrode terminals of the adjacent battery cells and electrically connects the battery cells; and a plastic insulating wall disposed between the adjacent electrode terminals. The surface color of the insulating wall is a heat-ray reflecting color having far-infrared reflectance of 50% or more.
