RAIL THREAD BOX ASSEMBLY
20240083471 · 2024-03-14 ·

A thread box assembly includes a framing body coupled with a moveable arm of a thread box system that positions rails of a track. The framing body includes external framing walls with an upward facing open side. The framing body includes framing supporting walls between the external walls. Supporting walls may couple the framing walls with each other. The assembly includes a closing body that can be removably coupled with the framing body. The closing body includes opposing elongated bars and opposing internal coupling walls. The elongated bars are oriented perpendicular to the coupling walls. The closing body is fastened to the framing body to define and surround a central opening of the thread box assembly through which the rails extend during installation or replacement of the track without the closing body moving relative to the framing body.

Modular Systems and Methods for Transporting Tower Assembly of Wind Turbine

A system and method are used for transporting a plurality of tower sections of a wind turbine on beds of transport devices, such as flat railcars. Supports affix at support locations on beds to accommodate at least one of the tower sections on each of the transport devices. The supports can include bed supports, such as tabs, extending from the beds, and can include cradle supports with slots that engage on the tabs. A circumferential dimension of a cradle is adjusted on each of the supports against which the tower section rests. Each of the tower sections is then supported with at least two of the supports by loading the tower sections on the transport devices. An end of each of the tower sections is then affixed to a flange on at least one of the supports on each of the transport devices.

Protector assembly for flexible pipe coils and method of using same

A system includes a coil contacting base. The coil contacting base includes a radially curved outer surface with a radius of curvature less than or equal to a coil radius of curvature of an interior channel of a coil of spoolable pipe, and the coil contacting base includes a length greater than or equal to an axial dimension of the coil. The system also includes a side wall coupled to an inner surface of the coil contacting base. The side wall is configured to block circumferential movement of a coil restraint. The system also includes a passage disposed between the coil contacting base and the side wall. The coil restraint is configured to be disposed in the passage.

Modular system for transporting wind turbine blades
10428800 · 2019-10-01 · ·

A modular system for transporting wind turbine blades in at least two different spatial arrangements comprising two or more root end transport frames having a height H for supporting the root end, wherein H<D (D=bolt circle diameter), and two or more first tip end transport frames having a height H1 for supporting the blade towards the tip end, each first tip end transport frame has a base frame and a support bracket provided on top of the base frame, wherein each first tip end transport frame is stackable on top of a root end transport frame and vice versa, so the system is operable to stack successive blades in an alternating root end to tip end arrangement. The first tip end transport frame is replaceable with a second end transport frame that increase the inter-blade spacing, or with a tip end or a root end distance piece.

Load securing system
10421384 · 2019-09-24 ·

A load securing system for transporting a coil includes a coil that may be transported on a trailer. The coil has top side, an outwardly facing side and a central aperture. The central aperture has a bounding surface. A plurality of securing units is provided and hingedly coupled together such that the plurality of securing units forms a circle. Each of the securing units is selectively positioned on the coil when the coil is transported to protect the coil from impact damage. A chain plurality of chains is each extended over an associated one of the securing units to secure the coil to the trailer. Each of the securing units is comprised of a rigid material to inhibit the chains from damaging the coil.

COIL RAILCAR WITH FLOATING FLOOR SHEET
20190256111 · 2019-08-22 ·

A transverse trough coil car includes a plurality of transverse troughs, a pair of trucks, a center sill supported on the trucks, a pair of side walls extending the length of the car coupled to the center sill, and a plurality of trough forming assemblies with each trough forming assembly including at least one floating floor sheet. Each one floating floor sheet is structured to allow for thermal expansion in a first direction along a longitudinal axis of the car body and in a second direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the car body.

PIPE COIL SKID WITH SIDE RAILS AND METHOD OF USE
20190233163 · 2019-08-01 ·

A pipe coil skid includes a plurality of beams affixably connected together to form a rectangular shaped base and a platform disposed within the base. The platform has a concave upward shape on its upward facing side when the skid sits on a horizontal surface, such that a coil of pipe positioned upon the platform contacts the platform within the base. The pipe coil skid also includes a first side rail coupled to at least one of the plurality of beams. The first side rail is configured to block movement of the coil of pipe beyond a boundary of the rectangular shaped base.

Railroad coil car floating floor sheet

A transverse trough coil car includes a plurality of transverse troughs, a pair of trucks, a center sill supported on the trucks, a pair of side walls extending the length of the car coupled to the center sill, and a plurality of trough forming assemblies with each trough forming assembly including including at least one floating floor sheet.

Configurable railroad car

A configurable railroad car including a plurality of multi-orientation coil/slab supports that are configured to be positioned on, oriented on, and securely attached to the floor of the railroad car in different sets of positions and orientations to enable the railroad car to transport different products such as coils, elongated slabs, a mix of coils and elongated slabs, or other products.

Stake pocket for railroad car
10259472 · 2019-04-16 · ·

A railroad gondola car may have stake pockets in which to mount stakes to permit a greater vertical envelope to be occupied by lading. The stake pockets are collapsible from a deployed position to a storage position. The stake pockets are mounted on doublers that mount to the side walls of the car in line with the side wall stiffeners and their associated cross-bearers. The connection between the stake pocket and the doubler is deliberately made weaker than the connection between the doubler and the side wall such that under abusive loading conditions the stake pocket may tend to shear off the doubler, and may tend thereby to leave the side wall less damaged than might otherwise be the case.
