Front trunk assembly

A vehicle includes a hood at a front end, a frunk under the hood, and a cabin. The vehicle includes a cross-beam positioned between the frunk and the cabin, and configured to inhibit protrusion of the frunk into the cabin in a frontal impact. The vehicle also includes a frame and the cross-beam is coupled to the frame. The cross-beam is a unitary member that is coupled to the frame or the cross-beam includes two members separated by a gap and each member is coupled to the frame. The frame includes shock towers for coupling the cross-beam to the frame. The frame can also include a bracket for coupling the cross beam to the frame.

VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE

A vehicle body structure includes an exhaust component, a pipe extending from the exhaust component and a water shield. The water shield has a first end fixed to the pipe at a location proximate the exhaust component. The water shield extends rearward from the location proximate the exhaust component and has a second end that is spaced apart from the pipe.

ELECTRIFIED VEHICLE WITH DUAL-USE STORAGE/COOLING COMPARTMENT

An electrified vehicle includes a storage compartment positioned forward of a vehicle passenger cabin and accessible by opening a vehicle hood, a thermally conductive plate or heat exchanger in contact with a bottom surface of the storage compartment and having an associated conduit configured for circulating a working fluid from a vehicle cooling system, and a valve operable to control flow of the working fluid through the conduit. The storage compartment may be filled with a cooling medium, such as ice or dry ice, to provide enhanced cooling during high-demand operation or charging of the vehicle, such as when operating in a performance/track mode, towing a trailer, or in other extreme use scenarios. The valve may be controlled so that the working fluid bypasses the conduit when the storage compartment is used for cargo and/or enhanced cooling is not desired.

A cargo hold arrangement of a front chamber of a motor vehicle that is closable by a front bonnet includes a cargo hold box with a cargo hold and a cover. The cargo hold box is closed by the cover when the cover is disposed in a closed position below the front bonnet. The cover is movable downwards in relation to the cargo hold box in a vertical direction of the cargo hold box in an event of an accident of the motor vehicle. The cover is smaller in relation to a clear cross-section of the cargo hold box such that the cover is movable downwards in a vertical direction of the motor vehicle into the cargo hold of the cargo hold box in the event of the accident.

Vehicle

A vehicle may include: a roof; a back door; a pillar provided next to the back door, having a tubular shape, and extending slantingly downward and backward from the roof; a vertical member provided below the pillar, extending along a vertical direction, and connected to the pillar from below; and a reinforcing member provided inside the pillar at a connection between the pillar and the vertical member and joined to the pillar.

A vehicle body structure defines a vehicle longitudinal direction and a vehicle lateral direction perpendicular to the vehicle longitudinal direction and includes a rear sill structure. The rear sill assembly at least partially defines a rear opening of the vehicle body structure. The rear sill assembly extends in the vehicle lateral direction. The rear sill assembly includes a first body panel and a second body panel. The first body panel extends from a first side of the rear opening to a second side of the rear opening. The second body panel overlays a portion of the first body panel. The second body panel has a main section that includes a plurality of recessed rib portions that extend in directions that define an acute angle relative to the vehicle longitudinal direction.

In a group of motor vehicles of one vehicle type, hybrid-drive motor vehicles are derived from the electric-drive motor vehicles. By using the architecture of electric-drive motor vehicles for the hybrid-drive motor vehicles, the architecture has a floor pan subassembly that sits in a higher position in comparison to that in motor vehicles having an internal combustion engine drive. An installation space for housing a battery on the underside of the floor pan subassembly is made available, which, in comparison to the motor vehicle in the prior art, allows significantly larger batteries to be housed.
