A Novel Nearshore Logistics Anchorage Hub
The application provides a floating structure for mooring a vessel in a water body, comprising a hull having a plurality of dampers disposed on lateral sides or corners of the hull, a plurality of piles erected in the water body around a periphery of the hull, wherein each of the piles comprises a guiding plate having one or more guiding surfaces for coupling to at least one damper, one or more auxiliary piles connected to the pile by truss structure and partially embedded in the water body, the hull is vertically slidably coupled to a plurality of piles by slidably coupling the dampers to corresponding guiding surfaces of the guiding plate on the piles. The application also provides a plurality of floating structures linked to form a water-based hub serving as a novel nearshore logistics anchorage hub.
MOORING LINE FOR FLOATING PLATFORM
The invention concerns a mooring line for a floating platform, preferably a floating wind turbine platform, the mooring line comprising: a first segment able to be attached to the platform; a second segment able to be attached to a sea ground; at least an intermediate segment formed of an elastomeric material and arranged between the first segment and the second segment.
The intermediate segment is able to provide a maximal extension greater than 100% of the rest length of the intermediate segment, advantageously a maximal extension greater than 300%.
The intermediate segment presents a minimal breaking strength greater than 18 MPa, advantageously greater than 25 MPa.
Off-shore wind turbine system and method of installation
An off-shore wind turbine system is assembled using a platform or jack-up vessel, and a first base anchored to the seafloor at a blade assembly off-shore location. A buoyant tower is attached to the first base. A crane provided on the platform or jack-up vessel is used to lift blades and blades, which are then coupled to a turbine held in a nacelle provided at the top of the buoyant tower. The buoyant tower, the nacelle, and the blades are detached from the first base. The buoyant tower, the nacelle, and the blades are towed to a wind farm and connected to a second base provided in the wind farm. The buoyant tower, the nacelle, and the blades are further stabilized using mooring lines spanning between the buoyant towers and other bases provided in the wind farm. The first base and/or the second base include anti-rotation features.
MOORING SYSTEM FOR DRIFTING ENERGY CONVERTERS
A system that maintains the relative and/or absolute geographical positions of two or more buoyant devices floating in a body of water. A plurality of formation restoring tethers are disclosed which permit the unrestricted vertical movement of networked buoyant devices, while resisting increases in their lateral separations by providing restoring forces to oppose such separations. Tensioning mechanisms incorporated into the tethers generate the resistance to the lateral separations of two or more entities by transforming such separations into an increase in the potential energy stored within such tensioning mechanisms, the potential energy of which is released in the process of restoring the original separations and/or positions of the displaced buoyant devices.
ANCHORING LINE FOR A FLOATING BASE, COMPRISING AN ELASTIC DEVICE
The invention relates to anchoring systems for floating bases for the production of energy at sea (floating wind turbine, wave energy, floating hydraulic turbines, ETM platform, etc.) and/or for petroleum exploitation at sea, constituted by at least one anchoring line which comprises at least one portion which is constituted by cable, chain or a combination of the two and at least one elastic device.
Chain damping system and method
A chain damping and shock absorber system for a chain includes one or more damping devices, each damping device installed to a segment of the chain, such that the chain and the one or more damping devices installed to a chain segment form a damped and compressed chain assembly. In response to a tensile force applied to the chain, the chain segment is extendable to an extended length which is between its compressed length and its full length. Methods of installing the chain damping and shock absorber system are provided.
Variable stiffness compression apparatus, systems and methods of using the same
The present invention comprises an apparatus for use in line with a chain or a strap tie-down assembly. When the chain or strap tie-down assembly is tightened on a commodity to prevent movement of the same during shipping, the apparatus compresses and stretches. During transport, if the commodity loosens and creates slack in the chain or tie-down assembly, the apparatus may decompress and shorten, thereby taking up the slack and maintaining tension in the chain or tie-down assembly to prevent or minimize loosening and damage of the commodity.
Systems and methods for controlling recoil of rope under failure conditions
A rope system adapted to be connected between first and second structures comprises a rope recoil system comprising first and second rope recoil assemblies. The first rope recoil assembly defines a first length and a first predetermined rope recoil maximum limit at which the first rope recoil assembly fails when under tension. The second rope recoil assembly defines a second length, where the second length is longer than the first length. The rope recoil assembly is arranged between the first and second structures such that the rope recoil system is in a first configuration. When at least one of the first and second structures moves away from another of the first and second structures, the first rope recoil assembly fails and the rope recoil system reconfigures into a second configuration.
Mooring line restrainer
Provided herein is a Mooring Line Restrainer capable of withstanding the whiplash from the impact of a snapped mooring line, and including a contoured Restraining Member shaped to engage and restrain snapped mooring lines and incorporating a single or multi-turn spring, mounted on a framework attached to one or more support bases. At least one of the support bases is a magnetic holding device adequate for different sizes of mooring lines, for securely and strongly fixing the Mooring Line Restrainers on the deck of a ship at appropriate positions along and on either sides of the mooring lines as per a mooring layout plan. The support bases have provisions for interlinking the plurality of adjacent or alternate Mooring Line Restrainers for forming a strong structure around the mooring lines for confining and restraining any snapped mooring lines within a narrow zone around their pre-snapped positions on the ship's deck.
Soft yoke mooring arrangement
Aspects of the disclosure pertain to single point mooring systems and method used in relation to single point mooring systems wherein, the system divides the restoring weight for the mooring system in two and removes hinges and swivel joints from the gravitational load path suspending the restoring weight.
