Hockey puck rebounder and training device

Hockey puck rebounders and training devices are capable of rebounding playing objects, such as hockey pucks or balls. Aspects of the technology are directed to training devices that can be used on ice surfaces or synthetic ice surfaces to practice various skills. The training device can include a frame, anchors, and rebound panels mounted to a tubular frame. The anchors can secure the training device to the ice surface. Hockey pucks can be rebounded off the rebound member by a player.

An illustrative example embodiment of a rebound device includes a rigid base that has end faces that establish a width of the base and side faces between the end faces. The side faces establish a base length. The length of the base is greater than its width. A resilient member has a first side surface secured to at least one of the side faces of the base. The resilient member has a thickness in a direction parallel to the width of the base between the first side and a second side of the resilient member that faces in an opposite direction from the first side. The second side of the resilient member presents a rebound surface for resiliently deflecting an object away from the resilient member.

An athletic training system includes one or more panels having a rigid front surface covered by a translucent material behind which is an illumination or light source and one or more pressure sensors that can detect and measure the pressure caused by impact against the front surface. A control device communicates with and controls the panels according to a selected exercise regimen that is designed to develop particular skills for an athletic or sporting endeavor by commanding the panel or panels to illuminate or display information. While illuminated or displaying, each panel actively monitors its pressure sensor for an indication of an impact, and upon detecting an impact, reports the detection of the impact to the control device, and turns off its illumination. The process of turning panels on and off and detecting impact can be used to construct various regimens for training and developing skills.

A golf swing training device is disclosed that will provide instant feedback on the position of the golfer's clubface at impact. The device consists of a rebounding surface enclosed, and attach to a frame with a safety net, a goal, a golf mat to provide a hitting surface, and a ribbon attached from the bottom of the frame to the golf mat for alignment and shot analysis. The rebounding surface faces opposite the goal such that when a practice golf ball hits it, it will land in the goal if struck properly. Its angle may be adjustable to accommodate different clubs for a proper rebound into the goal. The rebounder surface may be made from a foam material with a fabric covering that when struck, leaves an indention for visual target reference, repels the ball, and indicates ball spin by referencing where the ball landed inside or outside the goal.
