Porous scaffolds for electrochemically-controlled reversible capture and release of alkenes
In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to a method for capturing alkenes that includes: associating the alkenes with metal-organic frameworks, where the metal-organic frameworks includes one or more metals and one or more ligands coordinated with the one or more metals, and where the metal-organic frameworks are conductive; and oxidizing the metal-organic frameworks, where the oxidizing results in a capturing of the alkenes by the metal-organic frameworks. Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to a system for capturing alkenes that includes: metal-organic frameworks, where the metal-organic frameworks include one or more metals and one or more ligands coordinated with the one or more metals, and where the metal-organic frameworks are conductive; and an alkene feed source associated with the metal-organic frameworks, where the alkene feed source is configured to deliver an alkene feed to the system.
Material phase with electrical lead
A chromatograph is provided for identifying components of a mixture. Components are identified by different rates of adsorption and/or desorption with a material phase. In one embodiment, an electrical lead is connected to the material phase for supplying an electrical charge to the material phase. The electrical charge alters the rate of adsorption/desorption of the components with the material phase. In another embodiment, the material phase is disposed between two conductors with electrical leads connected to each of the conductors. A charge differential between the two conductors alters the rate of adsorption and/or desorption of components with the material phase.
Advanced adsorptive separation processes for molecular class separation
A method for separating classes of hydrocarbon compounds from a feed stream including a hydrocarbon mixture is disclosed. The method includes the steps of passing a feed stream through a plurality of separation units arranged in a series in any order, wherein each separation unit has an adsorbent material; and separating classes of hydrocarbon compounds from the feed stream. When one of the plurality of separation units comprises an adsorbent material that is a metal organic framework selected from a zirconium, hafnium, cerium, or titanium-based metal organic framework, then another plurality of separation units includes an adsorption material that is different from the metal organic framework. The method is conducted in a liquid phase. The method can also use a single separation unit with a continuous cyclic bed apparatus. The method can be combined with refining and downstream processes.
Process for purifying hydrogen gas for use in fuel cells
The invention generally relates to a process for purifying a hydrogen gas for use in a fuel cell. The process involves taking a hydrogen feed stream from a high-pressure tank and passing it through a purifier comprising an adsorbent to provide a purified hydrogen stream which is sent to a fuel cell. A particular adsorbent which can be used is a metal-organic framework composition. The adsorbent can be housed in a device such as a canister or cartridge having an inlet and outlet port.
METHOD FOR ENHANCING VOLUMETRIC CAPACITY IN GAS STORAGE AND RELEASE SYSTEMS
The present disclosure provides for a porous gas sorbent monolith with superior gravimetric working capacity and volumetric capacity, a gas storage system including a porous gas sorbent monolith of the present disclosure, methods of making the same, and method for storing a gas. The porous gas sorbent monolith includes a gas adsorbing material and a non-aqueous binder.
Systems And Methods For Gas Storage And Transportation
Methods of contacting a fluid comprising a light hydrocarbon with a metal-organic framework adsorbent having bis(pyrazolyl) ethanediimine ligands and internal pores; adsorbing the fluid in at least a portion of the internal pores of the metal-organic framework thereby creating an adsorbed fluid; storing the adsorbed fluid in the internal pores of the metal-organic framework; and releasing the adsorbed fluid from the internal pores of the metal-organic framework, wherein the metal-organic framework adsorbent undertakes a reversible phase transition upon adsorbing the fluid. Systems of a metal-organic framework having bis(pyrazolyl) ethanediimine ligands and internal pores, wherein the metal-organic framework undertakes a reversible phase transition upon adsorption and desorption of a light hydrocarbon fluid; wherein the fluid is stored in the internal pores of the metal-organic framework.
METAL-ORGANIC FRAMEWORK COATED ORGANIC FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR BASED NO2 SENSOR AND METHOD
An NO.sub.2 detection device includes a substrate; a drain formed on the substrate; a source formed on the substrate; a p-type polymer semiconductor layer formed on the substrate, between the drain and the source; and an n-type metal-organic framework layer located over the p-type polymer semiconductor layer. The n-type metal-organic framework layer has apertures having a size larger than a size of the NO.sub.2 molecules so that the NO.sub.2 molecules pass through the n-type metal-organic framework layer to arrive at the p-type polymer semiconductor layer to increase an electrical current.
SINTERED POROUS ELASTOMERIC MATERIAL AND APPLICATION OF THE SAME
A sintered elastomeric material combined with at least one absorbent material and formed into a thin compressible sheet. The material finds particular use in venting or filtering gasses. In specific examples, the elastomeric material may be a thermoplastic elastomer and the absorbent material may be carbon. When an amount of carbon (or any other type of conductive material) included with the elastomeric material is high enough, the material may also find use as a conductive material.
CARBON DIOXIDE ADSORBENT BASED ON HYDROPHOBIC SILANE-COATED AMINE-FUNCTIONALIZED MOF/ALUMINA COMPOSITE
The present invention relates to a carbon dioxide adsorbent based on a hydrophobic silane-coated amine-functionalized MOF/alumina composite and, more specifically, to a carbon dioxide adsorbent based on a hydrophobic silane-coated amine-functionalized MOF/alumina composite, capable of maintaining structural stability by means of the moisture present in exhaust gas, and thus can effectively capture carbon dioxide in a real fluidized bed. According to the present invention, provided are a carbon dioxide adsorbent and a preparation method therefor, the carbon dioxide adsorbent being capable of maintaining structural stability by means of the moisture present in exhaust gas since the surface of a porous metal-organic framework/alumina oxide composite is coated with hydrophobic silane.
