The treatment agent is an aggregated treatment agent comprising slaked lime, a water absorptive polymer, a binder, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of a phosphoric acid salt, a carbonic acid salt and a hydroxide at pH 8 to 13.
PROCESS FOR FILTRATION ENHANCEMENT OF AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS
A method for enhancing filtration performance in separating solids from liquids in an aqueous dispersion comprising a solids phase and a liquid phase in a two-step process having a physical separation step and a filtration step comprising adding at least one filtration aid promoter and at least one synthetic polymer to the aqueous dispersion during and/or before the physical separation step resulting in a liquid-solid separation and filtering the liquid from the solid. The method may be applied in mining operations for the filtering of mining slurries.
METHODS OF PRODUCING FERRIHYDRITE NANOPARTICLE SLURRIES, AND SYSTEMS AND PRODUCTS EMPLOYING THE SAME
The present disclosure relates to methods of synthesizing slurries comprising ferrihydrite nanoparticles, and systems and methods employing the same. The method may include the steps of preparing an aqueous solution having ferric iron cations, halide anions, and a two-line iron promoter, and precipitating the ferrihydrite nanoparticles in the aqueous solution, thereby producing a ferrihydrite slurry. The ferrihydrite slurries may be useful in treating a polluted fluid having sulfur contaminants therein.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRESERVATIVE REMOVAL FROM OPHTHALMIC FORMULATIONS
Systems and methods for removing a preservative from a solution, emulsion, or suspension comprising an ophthalmic agent are described herein. Said systems comprise a preservative-removing polymeric matrix comprising an active matrix component and an inactive matrix component. A method for administering an ophthalmic agent comprises providing a solution, emulsion, or suspension comprising an ophthalmic agent, and a preservative; and providing a preservative-removing polymeric matrix comprising an active matrix component and an inactive matrix component, and wherein the polymeric matrix is configured to selectively absorb the preservative when the solution, emulsion, or suspension is passed therethrough.
Method of Producing Iodine-Supporting Composite Material
Provided is an iodine-supporting composite material, which controls the volatility and elution of iodine by making iodine supported on plural kinds of activated carbon or fiber and mixing them, thereby the intensity of the bactericidal effect against microorganism can be changed. Migrating iodine from the state strongly retained in a material such as activated carbon or fibers to the material such as activated carbon or fibers having weak iodine adsorptivity which is made contacted, mixed, compounded, or mixed-spun with the strong iodine-adsorptivity materials, thereby, the rate of releasing iodine into the air or elution in water can be controlled. The iodine acts on the surrounding microorganisms in proportion to the rate at which iodine volatilizes or elutes and the intensity of these actions can be controlled.
Apparatus for removing chemotherapy compounds from blood
A filter apparatus for removing small molecule chemotherapy agents from blood is provided. The filter apparatus comprises a housing with an extraction media comprised of polymer coated carbon cores. Also provided are methods of treating a subject with cancer of an organ or region comprising administering a chemotherapeutic agent to the organ or region, collecting blood laded with chemotherapeutic agent from the isolated organ, filtering the blood laden with chemotherapeutic agent to reduce the chemotherapeutic agent in the blood and returning the blood to the subject.
Excrement-treating material and method for manufacturing same
An excrement-treating material has a core part, and a surface layer bonded to the core part by utilizing the adhesion ability of a water-absorbable polymer in the surface layer without using an adhesive. The excrement-treating material suitably exerts the water absorbability and water transport ability inherent to the surface layer. The excrement-treating material is constituted by incorporating pulverized water-absorbable polymer particles of 20 μm to 50 μm, and adding water to the surface of the core part after granulation to noncontinuously form a highly-wet part; reacting a water content in the highly-wet part and the pulverized water-absorbable polymer to noncontinuously form an adhering part; and bonding the surface layer to the core part through the adhering part. Upon absorption of excreted urine, permeation of the urine into the core part is accelerated in a part other than the adhering part.
