WHEEL AND SPOKE, IN PARTICULAR FOR A BICYCLE
A spoke for an at least partially muscle-powered bicycle and wheel including a spoke where the spoke comprises a spoke body with a hub-side, first end and a rim-side, second end and the first end and the second end are remote from one another. The spoke body is elongated and includes at least one first center region disposed closer to the first end than to the second end, and at least one second center region disposed closer to the second end than to the first end. The first center region and in the second center region of the spoke body each include flattened cross-sections substantially accommodated in a longitudinal plane. In the second center region the spoke body is configured more asymmetric than in the first center region.
BICYCLE RIM AND WHEEL HAVING INNER PROTRUSIONS
A rim for a bicycle wheel includes a radially outer tire-engaging portion, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall spaced apart from the first sidewall. The first and second sidewalls may extend radially inward of the radially outer tire-engaging portion. The rim includes a radially inner portion having at least one asymmetric protrusion.
SPOKE ATTACHMENT ASSEMBLY FOR A SPOKED BICYCLE WHEEL, RELATED WHEEL AND PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A WHEEL
A spoke attachment assembly configured to couple a rim to the spokes of a spoked bicycle wheel. The spoke attachment assembly comprises a nipple having an enlarged head and a stem provided with a coupling portion for coupling with a spoke, at least one shaped washer associated with the nipple and configured to abut on one side with the enlarged head of the nipple and, on the opposite side, with the rim and holding means configured to hold said at least one shaped washer associated with the nipple. The invention also relates to a spoked bicycle wheel and to a process for manufacturing such a wheel.
PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING A SPOKED BICYCLE WHEEL AND RELATED WHEEL
A process for manufacturing a spoked bicycle wheel, comprising the steps of providing a rim element having a spoke attachment chamber; providing a spoke attachment assembly for coupling to a respective spoke, inserting the spoke attachment assembly through an opening of the spoke attachment chamber along an insertion direction that is inclined with respect to the rim element and moving the spoke attachment assembly along the insertion direction until a stem of the spoke attachment assembly is at the surface of the spoke attachment chamber; moving the spoke attachment assembly along the surface of the spoke attachment chamber towards a spoke attachment seats; inserting the stem in the spoke attachment seat; and, constraining the spoke attachment assembly in the spoke attachment seat. The steps are repeated to couple a respective spoke attachment assembly to each of the plurality of spoke attachment seats. The invention also relates to a spoked bicycle wheel produced by the above process.
Bicycle wheel and relative manufacturing process
A bicycle disc wheel or spoked wheel (10) is disclosed, comprising a hub (12), a rim (14) and at least one disc or spoke-type structural element (60) integral with the hub (12) and the rim (14), wherein said at least one structural element (60) is pretensioned. A process for manufacturing thereof comprises the sequential steps of providing a hub (12) and a rim (14), applying a compression on the rim (14) towards the hub (12) elastically deforming it, rendering at least one disc or spoke-type structural element (60) integral with the hub (12) and the rim (14), and removing the compression onto the rim (14) applied in step a).
Bicycle wheel with unitary side construction
A wheel having a longitudinal plane normal to an axis of rotation. The wheel has a rim with side surfaces on opposite sides of the longitudinal plane. A hub is concentrically disposed relative to the rim. Two unitary side elements are disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal plane and are coupled to the rim and to end portions of the hub. Each of the unitary side elements has an annular sidewall, a flange portion, and a plurality of spokes that do not cross the longitudinal plane and that integrally interconnect the annular sidewall and the flange portion. An end portion of each spoke of the one side element is tied to the end portion of an aligned spoke of the other side element adjacent to the sidewall to restrict the tied end portions from moving away from each other.
Vehicle wheel spoke connection
A vehicle wheel including a rim, a hub, and a plurality of spokes extending with a span portion between the rim hub. The rim and/or hub constitutes a bracing element. A connecting element is connected to the bracing element and includes an external surface, an internal cavity. A spoke has a longitudinal axis and an external spoke surface that that overlaps the internal cavity in an overlap region, and a pre-formed lateral spoke surface. The connecting element is crimped to create a crimped joinder with the spoke such that the connector surface is pressed and plastically deformed to displace the internal cavity toward the spoke surface in the overlap region to cause a lateral connector surface to laterally overlap the lateral spoke surface to create an overlie engagement and/or to increase a lateral overlap between a lateral connector surface and the lateral spoke surface in an overlie engagement. The overlie engagement supports spoke tensile load.
Bicycle hub and bicycle wheel assembly
A bicycle hub comprises a tubular body and a spoke attachment part. The tubular body has a rotational axis. The spoke attachment part includes an attachment opening through which a spoke is to extend. The attachment opening includes a first end opening through which the spoke is to extend, and a second end opening through which the spoke is to extend. The second end opening is provided outward of the first end opening in a radial direction perpendicular to the rotational axis. The second end opening has a first maximum length and a second maximum length. The first maximum length is defined in a circumferential direction defined about the rotational axis. The second maximum length is defined in an axial direction parallel to the rotational axis. The first maximum length is larger than the second maximum length.
Damper Assembly
A damper assembly for a bicycle wheel assembly may include a first damper configured to be disposed about a hub assembly of the bicycle wheel assembly. The first damper is configured to apply a first damping force against a spoke segment of at least one spoke of a plurality of spokes of the bicycle wheel assembly. The spoke segment is spaced apart from a spoke attachment member.
Damper Assembly
A bicycle wheel assembly may include a rim, a hub assembly, a plurality of spokes and a damper assembly. The damper assembly includes a damping element configured to apply a damping force against at least one spoke of the plurality of spokes. The damping force may be applied in an axial direction of the bicycle wheel and/or to a segment of the at least one spoke near the hub assembly.
