REFUSE VEHICLE HAVING TAILGATE-MOUNTED FUEL TANKS
A refuse vehicle includes a chassis having a prime mover, a body assembly coupled to the chassis, a tailgate pivotally coupled to the body assembly, an energy storage device coupled to the tailgate and moveable therewith, at least one of a non-structural conduit, a non-structural raceway, and a non-structural channel configured to contain at least one of wiring and a hydraulic line, and an impact mitigation system including at least one frame member positioned to direct impact loads around the energy storage device. The prime mover is configured to be powered by the energy storage device. The impact mitigation system provides a protected region within which the energy storage device is disposed.
HIGH PRESSURE CONTAINER UNIT
A high pressure container unit includes a container body configured to store high pressure gas, a case storing the container body inside the case, a pipe connected with the container body and extending to an outside of the case, a closing member that is configured to close the pipe and allow the high pressure gas stored in the container body to be discharged from the pipe when a given condition is satisfied, and a ventilation mechanism that discharges air inside the case to the outside of the case with use of pressure of the discharged high pressure gas when the given condition is satisfied.
Tank system for a motor vehicle having a volume modifying element
A tank system of a motor vehicle includes a volume modifying element, having a compensation volume, which is provided in the inner chamber of the fuel tank and which is used to equalize the vapor pressure. The compensation volume is connected to the surrounding area. The only connection between the volume modifying element and the surrounding area is formed by a storage unit of the gaseous fuel components and the inner chamber of the fuel tank is connected to the surrounding area by a valve unit. The valve unit is normally open when filling the fuel tank and when exceeding or falling below the pressure limits in the inner chamber of the tank, and is otherwise closed. The storage unit is connected to the valve unit. The volume modifying element and the valve unit are designed in such a way that vehicles which are parked for several days do not undergo diurnal losses due to changes in temperature of the surroundings, due to the fact that the vapor pressure equilibrium in the fuel tank can be maintained by the automatic supply and removal of ambient air in the, or from the, volume modifying element as long as the valve unit remains closed.
NATURAL GAS TANK PRESSURE CONTROL FOR TRANSPORT REFRIGERATION UNIT
A transport refrigeration system (200) comprising: a vehicle (102) having a refrigerated cargo space (119); a refrigeration unit (22) in operative association with the refrigerated cargo space, the refrigeration unit providing conditioned air to the refrigerated cargo space; a first engine (26) configured to power the refrigeration unit; a plurality of first fuel tanks (330) fluidly connected to the first engine, the plurality of first fuel tanks configured to supply fuel to the first engine, wherein each of the plurality of first fuel tanks includes a lock off valve (450) and a pressure sensor (470) configured to detect a pressure level within each of the first fuel tanks; and one or more engine controllers (54) in electronic communication with each pressure sensor and lock off valve, the one or more engine controllers being configured to adjust at least one of the lock off valves in response to a pressure level detected by at least one of the pressure sensors.
CNG fuel system for a vehicle
A fuel management module for use with a CNG fuel system for a vehicle includes a housing configured to be connected to the vehicle and a number of connections, receptacles, and controls associated with the module. A defueling receptacle may be positioned on the front panel of the housing, for defueling a fuel tank of the vehicle. A defueling control valve may be positioned on the front panel of the housing for controlling operation of the defueling receptacle, allowing for selective defueling. One or more high pressure connections may be accessible on the housing and configured for connection to one or more separate fuel tanks in a plug and play configuration. A plurality of filling connections may be accessible on the housing for filling the fuel tank(s). A low pressure fuel output connection may be positioned on the back panel of the housing to provide fuel output from the high pressure connections to the engine.
INTEGRATED FILL SYSTEM AND METHOD
An integrated fill system is provided for a vehicle. The integrated fill system can include a receptacle, a cap that mates with the receptacle, and a fill line that is in fluid communication between the receptacle and a container. The integrated fill system can further include a valve between an opening on an end of the container and an end of the fill line to allow one-way fluid communication for entry of compressed material into the container. The integrated fill system can further include a draw line on an opposite end of the container to maintain separate lines for filling and drawing compressed material into/from the container.
Refuse vehicle having tailgate-mounted CNG tanks
A refuse vehicle includes a chassis having an engine, a body assembly, a tailgate pivotally attached to the body assembly, a CNG fuel system having a CNG fuel tank coupled to the tailgate and moveable therewith, the engine configured to be powered by the CNG fuel system, at least one of a non-structural conduit, a non-structural raceway, and a non-structural channel configured to contain at least one of wiring and a hydraulic line, and an impact mitigation system.
