Implementations directed to providing a computer-implemented method comprising receiving, from a motion sensing device, a plurality of image frames that includes information regarding a plurality of animals housed in a group-housed environment, determining a coordinate space of the group-housed environment based on an analysis of a first image frame of the image frames, generating, based on the analysis of the first image frame, an ellipsoid model for each animal based on defined surface points for each animal weighted according to a likely proximity to a crest of a spine of the respective animal, and tracking a position and an orientation of each animal within the image frames by enforcing shape consistency of the ellipsoid models, and adjusting the position of each of the ellipsoid models based on the defined surface points for each animal and a maximum likelihood formulation of a movement distance for each animal.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING A CONDITION OF AT LEAST ONE PIG IN A PEN

Method and system for determining a condition of at least one pig in a pen provided with a feed unit. The pen is provided with a sensor system. For carrying out the method, a step a., step b. or a combination of steps a. and b. is possible. In a step a., with the aid of the sensor system a reaction of the at least one pig is measured. This is done when with the feed unit feed is made available in the pen to the at least one pig to determine on the basis of the measured reaction a condition of the at least one pig. In a step b., with the aid of the sensor system it is measured that the at least one pig demands feed to determine a condition of the at least one pig.

A barn for housing dairy cows includes a feeding and milking area, and a pasture area. The feeding and milking area comprises a plurality of feeding stations, each feeding station including: a manger configured to permit a cow to obtain dry feed; a waterer configured to permit the cow to obtain drinking water; and a head lock configured to releasably secure the cow in the feeding station while the cow is being milked. The pasture area is configured to permit a plurality of cows to lay down. The pasture area includes a raised bed composed of a bedding material and having a predetermined slope selected to facilitate removal of excess liquid from the pasture area.

MONITORING LIVESTOCK

A method of counting pigs or poultry includes mounting a camera at an alleyway through which the livestock pass with a width such that the livestock can pass at least two abreast and are free to turn to move in an opposite direction against the direction of travel before all livestock of the group complete their movement though the alleyway. An analysis of the images is carried out which takes into account errors caused by livestock which turn in the portion of the alleyway to move in the opposite direction temporarily before continuing to complete the travel through the portion of the single alleyway to the remote location and takes into account errors caused animals being side by side when passing through the portion of the single alleyway.

Multifunctional Intelligent Breeding and Rearing System

Disclosed is a multifunctional intelligent breeding and rearing system. Functional modules such as a radio-frequency ear tag and identification device, a central controller (1), an isolation and dislodging device (2), a multifunctional feeding trough (3), an automatic feeding device (4), a quantitative water supply device, a feeding trough automatic flushing and a remaining feed detection are utilized to form a basic automatic feeding unit. Through the feeding unit, an identity and eating information of a pig is identified; for a pig that does not eat during a feeding time period, feed and water are injected into a feeding trough simultaneously according to a feed amount and a mixing ratio preset by the system, for precise feeding; a pig that has eaten up is dislodged in real time; and the feeding trough is automatically flushed at an end of feeding. The system realizes automatic and intelligent feeding of a livestock.

SHED, IN PARTICULAR FOR HOLDING PIGS

The invention relates to a shed with a defecation region, a rest region, a feeding region and an activity region. The floor of the defecation region is formed by the upper run of a conveyor belt, through which urine that is produced can pass. A collecting trough for the urine is arranged under the upper run of the conveyor belt, from which collecting trough the urine is guided away and directed into a urine collection container outside the shed. An excrement scraper is disposed proximate the conveyor belt in the region of the rear deflection thereof. The excrement scraper, during the forward movement of the conveyor belt, scrapes the excrement on the conveyor belt off onto a discharge conveyor belt, in such a way that a separation of excrement and urine takes place.
