Automated behavioral and physiological testing of untethered testing animals
Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for automated behavioral and physiological testing of untethered testing animals. An automated behavioral testing system communicates with electronic devices attached to testing animals to provide automated physiological measurements and perturbations. The electronic devices are wirelessly charged to eliminate the need to remove the electronic devices during the course of the study. The automated behavioral testing system includes a filtering chamber positioned between a housing chamber and a behavioral testing chamber. The filtering chamber provides a passageway between the housing chamber and the behavioral testing chamber used to manage access to the behavioral testing chamber. For example, a gate component implemented between the filtering chamber and the behavioral testing chamber can be configured into either a closed configuration to restrict access between the filtering chamber and the behavioral testing chamber, or an open configuration to permit between the filtering chamber and the behavioral testing chamber.
System for treating wash waste liquid, adapted for application in a continuous tunnel washing machine in the field of preclinical pharmaceutical research
A system for treating wash waste liquid is described, configured for coupling to a wash module of a continuous Tunnel washing machine for the field of Preclinical Pharmaceutical Research, said wash module (12) comprising a wash chamber (25), characterized in that it comprises: a wash tub (22) with a side wall (31) substantially cylindrical in shape, with a tangential liquid suction outlet (33) and a substantially conical bottom, with a wash waste drain point (35) at the vertex of the cone, said tangential suction being adapted to generate a rotational motion of the liquid in said tub, said tub being positioned under said wash chamber (25), so as to receive said wash liquid by gravity; a centrifugal wash pump (21) with an open impeller, adapted to take in liquid from said tangential liquid suction outlet (33); an in-line filter (26) with an internal filter cartridge of the “wedge-wire” type, adapted to filter the liquid coming from said centrifugal pump (21) and deliver it back, filtered, into said wash chamber (25), and comprising a flush valve (27) for discharging the filtering waste.

The present disclosure provides methods for enabling an individual having a cat allergy to have a cat as a pet. Such a method can include quantitatively determining a threshold in the individual for an environmental level of an allergen produced by the cat and selecting a cat or a breed of cat that creates an environmental level of the allergen that is less than the threshold. Additionally, such a method can include lowering the allergens disseminated by the cat by treating the environment inhabited by the cat during a time period where the cat expresses elevated allergens.

The animal behavior observation system includes an animal container where an animal move around, a weight measuring apparatus that has a weight detecting unit for obtaining measurement data of the animal on the animal container, an analyzing device enabling calculation of a measurement value in accordance with the measurement data, a recording device that constantly stores the measurement value; and an output device that outputs the measurement value along a time axis.
CONNECTING RINGS FOR SMALL ANIMAL HABITAT PARTS
A connecting ring for coupling small animal habitat parts. The connecting ring can include a hoop, upper tabs projecting from an upper surface of the hoop, and lower tabs projecting from a lower surface of the hoop. The lower surface of the hoop is opposing the upper surface. Each of the upper tabs can include: a respective inner bump extending radially inward toward an interior of the hoop, and a respective inner groove formed between a respective lower surface of the respective inner bump and the upper surface of the hoop. Each of the lower tabs can include a respective outer bump extending radially outward away from the interior of the hoop, and a respective outer groove formed between a respective upper surface of the respective outer bump and the lower surface of the hoop.
