A system, module and method for continuous countercurrent spiral chromatography are disclosed. The module includes an input port for receiving an input solution, a first mixer for mixing the input solution with a recycled solution to produce a first mixed output, a stage I separator for concentrating the first mixed output to produce a stage I solid fraction, a second mixer for mixing the stage I solid fraction from the stage I separator and an optional buffer solution to produce a second mixed output, and a stage II separator for concentrating the second mixed output to produce a stage II solid fraction which exits the module. At least one separator is a spiral separator. The system includes a plurality of modules, and at least one of the plurality of modules includes a spiral separator. The method includes purifying an unpurified solution with the plurality of modules.

CONDITIONING OF PACKED CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMNS
20210236957 · 2021-08-05 · ·

The present invention relates to a method of conditioning a dry-packed chromatography column, which method comprises providing a column packed with inert and hydrophilic chromatography resin; and driving a solvent or solvent mix across the column. The solvent(s) are selected to be less hydrophilic than the chromatography resin; and the rate of the solvent flow is controlled to a rate which does not cause the system pressure to exceed a predefined threshold. The present invention is advantageously used in FLASH chromatography, where the generation of heat may pose problems e.g. to plastic frits or filters at high flow rates and/or wetting of dry resins.

Novel Modified Acid Compositions as Alternatives to Conventional Acids in the Oil and Gas Industry

A water treatment system includes an adsorption column including granular activated carbon (GAC) that adsorbs contaminants from untreated water onto the GAC, thereby producing treated water, a first electrode disposed at a proximal side of the adsorption column, with a gap between the first electrode and the GAC, a second electrode disposed at a distal side of the adsorption column, a drain outlet in fluid communication with the adsorption column for draining water out of the adsorption column, a gas inlet in fluid communication with the adsorption column for injecting a displacement gas into the adsorption column, a high voltage power supply electrically connected to one of the first electrode and the second electrode for generating a plasma discharge within the GAC, thereby regenerating the GAC within the adsorption column, and a gas outlet in fluid communication with the adsorption column for venting waste gas produced by the plasma discharge.

Multi-column continuous resin regeneration system
11033893 · 2021-06-15 ·

A continuous resin regeneration system includes a process by which resin in need of being recharged is continuously recharged and cleaned with a plurality of two-set filtration columns so that resin regeneration and the flow of influent is continuous and interrupted. Downstream filtration columns also undergo this cycling but at slower and related rates as the first column with the dirtiest water will naturally degrade resin faster than the downstream columns. Contaminated influent is cleaned by the continuously recharged resin in multiple column sets. The degree of cleaning of earlier filtration columns affects the resin flow rate of later filtration columns.

A DEVICE FOR STABILIZING WINE AND OTHER VEGETABLE BEVERAGES AND THE RELATED STABILIZING METHOD

A device and a method for stabilizing wine or other vegetable beverages by removal, in whole or in part, of agents responsible for instability, including proteins and metals, are provided. The device has a tubular container filled internally at least partly with particles of support material covered with a layer of a mesoporous nanostructured adsorbent material comprising titanium oxide, adapted to absorb proteins and metals.

SYSTEM FOR FILTERING ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
20210162318 · 2021-06-03 ·

A system for removing undesirable organic compounds so that the desirable cannabinoids, terpenes, and any other beneficial organic compounds can be easily and effectively captured is provided herein. The system makes use of diatomaceous earth filters through which a solution containing the organic compounds is rinsed with liquid non-polar solvent. The undesirable components remain in the diatomaceous while the beneficial organic compounds pass through and are collected in a liquid solution.

Concentrating lithium carbonate after regeneration of lithium sorbent

A system and method that includes flowing brine containing a metal ion through a reactor that includes porous particles having metal ion imprinted polymer having selective binding sites. The system and method further include discharging the brine from the reactor, contacting the porous particles with water, and pressurizing the reactor with carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide reacts with the adsorbed metal ions to form a metal carbonate solution, where the metal carbonate solution can then be continuously purified with ion exchange. The method can include recycling eluent from the ion exchange back into the system for re-use. The method further includes depressurizing the reactor to precipitate metal carbonate from the metal carbonate solution and discharging the metal carbonate solution from the reactor.
