Catalysts for petrochemical catalysis
Metal oxide catalysts comprising various dopants are provided. The catalysts are useful as heterogenous catalysts in a variety of catalytic reactions, for example, the oxidative coupling of methane to C2 hydrocarbons such as ethane and ethylene. Related methods for use and manufacture of the same are also disclosed.
STRUCTURED SUBSTRATES FOR OPTICAL SURFACE PROFILING
This disclosure provides methods and devices for the label-free detection of target molecules of interest. The principles of the disclosure are particularly applicable to the detection of biological molecules (e.g., DNA, RNA, and protein) using standard SiO.sub.2-based microarray technology.
DNA DATA STORAGE ON TWO-DIMENSIONAL SUPPORT MATERIAL
A data storage medium is disclosed comprising a two-dimensional (2D) support structure onto which artificially synthesized DNA molecules encoding digital information are placed and then covered with a protective layer. The 2D support structure is formed from a material such as metal foil, glass, or plastic. The 2D support structure may be functionalized with positively charged molecules to improve DNA adhesion. The DNA is protected from degradation by encapsulation in a protective layer of a non-reactive material such as silica or a thin layer of metal. A process for storing DNA on 2D support structures is also disclosed. Correlation of specific DNA molecules with a physical storage location on a 2D support structure provides geometric addressability for selective access to specific digital information.
Microarray synthesis and assembly of gene-length polynucleotides
There is disclosed a process for in vitro synthesis and assembly of long, gene-length polynucleotides based upon assembly of multiple shorter oligonucleotides synthesized in situ on a microarray platform. Specifically, there is disclosed a process for in situ synthesis of oligonucleotide fragments on a solid phase microarray platform and subsequent, on device assembly of larger polynucleotides composed of a plurality of shorter oligonucleotide fragments.
Flow cell array and uses thereof
Apparatus and methods for using a flow cell array are provided herein. A method includes delivering multiple items of chemical matter independently to multiple reaction sites of a flow cell array across multiple distinct instances of time; imaging multiple parallel chemical reactions at the multiple reaction sites of the flow cell array; and recording an emission from each of the multiple chemical reactions site.
Neutralization and Containment of Redox Species Produced by Circumferential Electrodes
There is disclosed an electrode array architecture employing continuous and discontinuous circumferential electrodes. There is further disclosed a process for the neutralization of acid generated at anode(s) by base generated at cathode(s) circumferentially located to each other so as to confine a region of pH change. The cathodes can be displayed as concentric rings (continuous) or as counter electrodes in a cross pattern (discontinuous). In this way reagents, such as acid, generated in a center electrode are countered (neutralized) by reagents, such as base, generated at the corners or at the outer ring.
Flow cell array and uses thereof
Apparatus and methods for using a flow cell array are provided herein. A method includes determining placement of multiple reaction site openings, wherein each reaction site opening is connected to a first sub-surface channel; connecting the first sub-surface channel to two or more additional sub-surface channels by multiple vias; and providing a material for multiple reaction sites, wherein an overlap of the multiple reaction site openings and the material delineate the multiple reaction sites.
FLOW CELLS
In an example, a flow cell includes a substrate, a selectively removable porous molecular network on the substrate and defining exposed substrate regions, and sequencing surface chemistry on at least some of the exposed regions. The sequencing surface chemistry is selected from the group consisting of i) an activated pad, a polymer layer attached to the activated pad, and a primer attached to the polymer layer; or ii) a nanostructure and an enzyme attached to the nanostructure.
BIOMATERIAL IMMOBILIZING METHOD AND USES THEREOF
In one embodiment of the present invention, provided are novel biomaterial immobilizing method having excellent immobilization ability and uses thereof, the method being characterized in that: an immobilization carrier having a surface modification specific to the biomaterial to be immobilized is used; the material to be immobilized is pre-immobilized to the surface of the immobilization carrier; a surface layer for maintaining the immobilization carrier on a biomaterial immobilizing substrate is provided; and the immobilization carrier is stamped in the shape of a spot on the surface layer.
