SEAT RUBBER

A seat rubber mounted onto a suspension component including: an outer peripheral plate-shaped part extending along a receiving part of the suspension to receive a coil spring; an annular curving part defined by a radially inner portion of the outer peripheral plate-shaped part rising along a riser part of the suspension; a center projecting part inserted into a positioning hole of the suspension while being positioned inside the outer peripheral plate-shaped part and projecting from a distal end of the curving part toward its proximal end; an annular groove provided between the curving part and the center projecting part while receiving the riser part; and a flat-plate shaped reinforcing member embedded in the outer peripheral plate-shaped part around the riser part outwardly away from the curving part so as to disperse and transmit an input from the coil spring to the receiving part.

Variable rate bound stoppers and variable rate suspension systems containing variable rate bound stoppers

A variable rate bound stopper includes a bound stopper in the form of an elastomer member. The elastomer member has an aperture such that the bound stopper is configured to be positioned over and disposed around a piston rod of a shock absorber. A shape memory alloy (SMA) coil formed from an SMA wire extends around at least a portion of the elastomer member. The SMA coil has a relaxed state and an activated state. The SMA coil constrains the elastomer member from deforming radially outward and alters an intrinsic spring rate of the bound stopper when in the activated state.

Jounce bumper

A jounce bumper for mounting in a vehicle suspension system having a bore extending therethrough, the bore configured to receive the piston rod, a nose having a predetermined inner diameter and a predetermined outer diameter, the nose being generally spherical or elliptical shaped and an undercut within the jounce bumper in the bore of the jounce bumper, the undercut creating an ununiformed thickness between the predetermined inner diameter and the predetermined outer diameter so as to provide improved handling characteristics of the jounce bumper.

A suspension tuning ring formed as a hollow a cylinder having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a wall, a top, a bottom, and a slit through the wall. The outer surface has an outer diameter that is larger than the outer diameter of a coil spring and the inner surface has an inner diameter that is less than the diameter of a coil spring. The top and bottom of the ring each include a top and bottom retaining groove that are spaced apart, shaped and dimensioned to accommodate each coil. At least one of the top and bottom retaining grooves are dimensioned, or include separate retaining structures, to retain the coils within the retaining grooves. The ring assembled by parting it along the slit and fitted between adjacent coils of a coil spring of a suspension system such that the coils are retained within the top and bottom retaining grooves.
