A recording apparatus includes a lower unit including a recording unit that performs recording on a medium, and an upper unit including a reading unit that reads a document image, the upper unit being disposed above the lower unit and being configured to open and close with respect to the lower unit. The upper unit includes an arm that maintains an open state of the upper unit by being supported by the lower unit. The lower unit has a cam groove that receives a protrusion disposed on the arm and that has a route along which the protrusion moves in a certain direction when the upper unit opens or closes. A recess that the protrusion enters and that supports the protrusion from below is disposed in the cam groove and the open state of the upper unit is maintained by the protrusion entering the recess.

A cargo-bed cover system and method as used to improve the covering of cargo beds of pickup trucks by providing an apparatus having the functionality of both a truck topper and a hard top tonneau cover. The cargo-bed cover system includes a rigid cover configured to cover the cargo bed of the pickup truck; coupled to the rigid cover, a mechanically-powered lifting assembly configured to vertically lift the rigid cover between a bed-covering position, located adjacent the cargo bed, and at least one raised position located above the cargo bed; a mounting assembly configured to removably mount the mechanically-powered lifting assembly to the cargo bed; and enclosing panels adapted to enclose an area formed between the rigid cover and the cargo bed when the rigid cover is in the at least one raised position.

A vehicle tonneau cover includes a first tonneau cover portion and a second tonneau cover portion positioned opposite the first tonneau cover portion. A connecting structure connects the first cover portion with the second cover portion. A third tonneau cover portion is coupled to the connecting structure so as to be securable in a first position to form a first configuration of the cover, and in a second position to form a second configuration of the cover. In the first configuration, the third cover portion resides between the first and second cover portions. In the second configuration, the third cover portion is spaced apart from the first and second cover portions so as to form a first gap between the third cover portion and the first cover portion and a second gap between the third cover portion and the second cover portion.

Systems and methods related to cargo enclosures feature side frame assemblies securable to a pickup truck cargo box or similar structure. The frame assemblies include longitudinal channels that are movable from a closed position to an extended position by an actuator mechanism. The actuator mechanism includes oppositely disposed linear actuators anchored to one of the channels, forcing hinged rails from an overlapping relationship to a coaxial relationship. The frame assembly may include a cross- or scissor-brace to improve stability. A pliable fabric forms at least one and up to three panel sidewalls that extend and retract simultaneously with the movement of the channels. A top cover is selectively securable to the frame assemblies.

A truck bed cover may include a top panel and a plurality of side panels. The top panel may be slidably and pivotably connected to each of the side panels. Each side panel may be connected to a truck bed rail. The side panels may be pivotably connected to the truck bed rail, in particular. Each of the top panel and the side panels are configured to selectively move between a tonneau cover configuration and a cap configuration.

A moveable tonneau cover includes multiple wheels. A tonneau cover mechanism includes multiple tracks each including an upper portion and a lower portion, and a switch that transitions to connect with the upper portion and the lower portion based on a weight of the movable tonneau cover such that the moveable tonneau cover is configured to move between a first position above a truck bed and a second position above the first position.

A switch system for a moveable platform includes a track including an upper portion and a lower portion. A platform transition switch is connected within the track. The platform transition switch is configured to receive a wheel connected to a platform, and to transition the wheel between the upper portion and the lower portion.

A vehicle tonneau cover includes a first tonneau cover portion and a second tonneau cover portion positioned opposite the first tonneau cover portion. A connecting structure connects the first cover portion with the second cover portion. A third tonneau cover portion is coupled to the connecting structure so as to be securable in a first position to form a first configuration of the cover, and in a second position to form a second configuration of the cover. In the first configuration, the third cover portion resides between the first and second cover portions. In the second configuration, the third cover portion is spaced apart from the first and second cover portions so as to form a first gap between the third cover portion and the first cover portion and a second gap between the third cover portion and the second cover portion.
