FILLER TUBE AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR THE SAME

A filler tube, which is capable of satisfying required functions suitably in compliance with the bellows and non-bellows cylindrical base while securing weld strength and fuel-permeation resistance property in the weld face, is provided. A filler tube includes a non-bellows cylindrical base with a total thickness of from 2 to 4 mm, a bellows with a total thickness of from 0.5 to 3 mm, and a flange having a total thickness of from 3.5 to 5 mm, and including an end face to be welded to a fuel tank. The non-bellows cylindrical base, the bellows, and the flange include inner layers formed so as to have a thickness accounting for from 40 to 60% of the total thicknesses, and formed of high-density polyethylene (or HDPE) serving as the major constituent, intermediate layers exhibiting fuel-permeation resistance property, and outer layers protecting the intermediate layers.

FILLER PIPE AND VEHICLE FUEL FILLER PORT STRUCTURE

A filler pipe is attached to a retainer that holds a fuel nozzle holder. The retainer includes: a first attaching portion attached to an inlet portion of the filler pipe; a holding portion having an engaging hole; and an opening positioned at a first end of the retainer, which is closer to a longitudinal center of the filler pipe than a second end is. The fuel nozzle holder includes: a second attaching portion and including an engaging piece that engages the engaging hole; and a main body extending from the second attaching portion toward the longitudinal center of the filler pipe. The engaging piece is surrounded at three sides by a groove having a U-shape. The engaging piece is connected to the second attaching portion on the main body-side. The holding portion extends toward the longitudinal center of the filler pipe to cover the groove.

FILLER PIPE AND VEHICLE FUEL FILLER PORT STRUCTURE

A retainer that holds a fuel nozzle holder is mounted to a filler pipe. The retainer includes: a first attaching portion mounted at the filler pipe; an opening located at a first end of the retainer, which is closer to a center of the filler pipe than a second end; and a holding portion having engaging holes. The fuel nozzle holder includes: a second attaching portion having a cylindrical shape and including two engaging pieces engaged in the engaging holes and located on opposite sides in a circumference of the second attaching portion. The engaging pieces are each surrounded by a groove at three sides and joined to the second attaching portion on one, and the two engaging pieces are different from each other in terms of a maximum value of a length in a circumferential direction of the second attaching portion.

FULLY-INTEGRATED, FLUID FLOW-CONTROL MODULE DESIGNED FOR INSTALLATION WITHIN AN ISO FILLER NECK OF A TOP-FILL DEF TANK
20220227223 · 2022-07-21 ·

A fully-integrated flow-control module is designed to fit within a filler neck of a DEF tank that conforms to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 22241-4:2009(E). The flow-control module includes a breather cap that locks the flow-control module within the mouth of the ISO filler neck. A spring-biased valve piston, which is controlled by a bleed path within a bleed and float body, opens and closes to control fluid flow into the DEF tank. A fluid level float is mounted on a control rod. The control rod and a bleed valve poppet are rigidly secured to a connector beam. When fluid levels in the tank raise the float, the bleed valve poppet seals a bleed circuit escape port, thereby enabling the valve piston to close, increase fluid pressure at the nozzle, and cause the nozzle to shut off.
