Paperboard corner, and method of manufacturing the same
10099444 · 2018-10-16 · ·

The invention concerns an elongated protective corner for the transport and/or packaging of products. The corner has at least two non-corrugated paperboard plies combined together to create two perpendicular wings and an apex The plies form multiple ply sections, and at least one of the ply sections of a given ply overlaps another ply section of the same ply. This overlapping arrangement gives the apex a resistance force of about 100 to about 500 lbs. The thickness of the corner can vary, with each wing being in the range of about 100 to about 250 points, and each ply is made from paperboard having a grammage of about 120 to about 380 g/m.sup.2. The resistance force can be determined by mounting the corner upon two blocks, and applying a force to the apex at a middle of the corner until a fracture is detected.

STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR SECURING AND TRANSPORTING EQUIPMENT RACKS

A clamping device secures an equipment rack during shipping. The clamping device includes a gripping portion having first and second surfaces positionable along opposing sides of a respective one of a front and rear lateral logistic bar. The clamping device also includes a clamp mechanism attached to the gripping portion for movement between a disengaged position and an engaged position to selectively engage the first and second surfaces to the opposing sides of the respective one of the front and rear lateral logistic bars positioned adjacent to an equipment rack within a carrier shipping enclosure. A mounting feature is attached to the gripping portion to hold one end of a longitudinal logistic bar positioned along a lateral side of the equipment rack.

Device with reusable supports for packing flat articles and corresponding method

The device enables a free-standing package to be formed with an open, light structure for packing a bundle of individual flat articles placed in direct juxtaposition and aligned along a straight longitudinal axis in the direction of the thickness of the flat articles. The device includes a pair of individual rigid lateral supports which are opposite each other and which rest directly on the respective sides of the bundle. The rigidity of the flat articles in the width direction is used to form the free-standing package. In particular the device enables the longitudinal compression of the flat articles to be controlled, which is useful in the case of flat articles which have a shape memory, such as folding cartons.

An air cushioning material includes: a belt-like part between a first and second air cells into which air is sealed, wherein side edges of the first and second air cells are connected to each other via the belt-like part; and an air flow passage that is formed in the belt-like part and communicates the first and second air cells, wherein at least a part including the air flow passage in the belt-like part is in a shape folded in a way from the first air cell to the second air cell.

Apparatus and method for making corner boards for container assemblies
10046473 · 2018-08-14 ·

An apparatus and method for manufacturing a notched corner board is disclosed. The method includes cutting bent board stock into fixed lengths; forming a slit in or near an end of the corner board; and bending/folding a part of the corner board between the end and the slit to create a notch or flap in the corner board. The apparatus includes one or more cutting tools configured to form a slit in or near a first end of the corner board, a support block configured to support the corner board as the slit is formed, one or more rollers configured to move the corner board towards the cutting tool(s), a frame to which the cutting tool(s), the support block, and the roller(s) are directly or indirectly attached, a motor, and a punch. The motor controls movement of the punch to form the notch in the corner board.

A thermoplastic container for explosive material comprising: a primary part defining a rigid compartment for holding explosive material, where the primary part comprises: a side wall having an inner periphery defining the side boundaries of the compartment and an outer periphery, a base arranged at a lower end of the side wall defining the lower boundary of the compartment, where an upper end of the side wall is arranged to provide access to the compartment allowing explosive material to be loaded into the compartment; a secondary part comprising: at least one reinforcement element defining an outer periphery of the container, wherein the reinforcement element is coupled to the primary part and is adapted to provide horizontal and/or vertical load support to the primary part and where the reinforcement element comprises at least one collapsible impact zone adapted to absorb an external impact to the secondary part and to transmit the excess forces of the impact into from the reinforcement element to the primary part.

Structure and method for securing and transporting equipment racks

A shipping apparatus utilizes logistic bars attached laterally across a carrier shipping enclosure such as truck trailer or shipping container. The logistic bars can engage tracks attached to lateral sidewalls of the carrier shipping enclosure. One or more equipment racks are positioned behind one of the lateral logistic bars. Another logistic bar is placed behind the one or more equipment racks. Each of the equipment racks are secured in place by clamping devices positioned along a respective lateral logistic bar to be proximate to a respective corner of the equipment rack. Longitudinal logistic bars are engaged to a pair of the clamping devices that are on opposing lateral sides of the equipment rack. The shipping apparatus provides a rigid structure that is appropriately positioned without damaging components within the equipment rack and preventing swaying during transport of the equipment rack.
