METHOD FOR OPERATING A STORAGE FACILITY WITHOUT LIFTS
20230331475 · 2023-10-19 ·

A storage facility having storage racks and aisles, with storage and removal apparatuses for each aisle. Transportation units are placed into and removed from racks via the storage/removal apparatus and a direct horizontal exchange of units takes place between adjacent aisles via exchange locations within the racks, where the storage/removal apparatus itself actively horizontally moves the units in the exchange locations. Each storage/removal apparatus has a vertical operating range for servicing more than one rack level and each aisle has enough storage/removal apparatuses to access all rack levels of an aisle. The vertical operating/service level of each storage and removal apparatus of an aisle is offset/staggered relative to the vertical operating/service level of each storage and removal apparatus of a neighboring/adjacent aisle such that units can be routed through the storage facility without lifts by being actively exchanged between aisles and rack levels by the storage and removal apparatuses.

A vehicle lift device is for transfer of the at least one delivery vehicle between a first lift stop position adjacent the second location in the second horizontal plane and a second lift stop position adjacent a third location arranged in a third horizontal plane being at a different vertical level than the second horizontal plane.

Three-dimensional warehouse system

The present invention is to provide a solution of high density storage and goods-to-man picking by proposing a three dimensional warehouse system for accurate inbound and outbound operation and management and improved space utilization rate of the warehouse. The technical solution includes a rack, containers, carrier vehicles, and track-switching devices. The rack includes a track structure and defines at least one load-bearing platform. The track structure includes running tracks, and the at least one load-bearing platform located below the running track. Each container stores goods, and part of the containers are stacked and placed on the at least one load-bearing platform. The carrier vehicle moves back and forth on the running tracks to perform storage and retrieval operations in the container storage system. The track-switching device is configured to switch the carrier vehicle from a current running track where the carrier vehicle is located to a target running track.
