System and method for forming a biological microdevice
A method for forming a biological microdevice includes applying a biocompatible coarse scale additive process with an additive device and a biocompatible material to form an object. The coarse scale is a dimension not less than about 100 μm. The method also includes applying a biocompatible fine scale subtractive process with a subtractive device to the object. The fine scale is a dimension not greater than about 1000 μm. The method also includes moving the object between the additive device and the subtractive device. A system is also provided for performing the above method and includes the additive device, the subtractive device, a means for transporting the object between the additive device and subtractive device and a processor with a memory including instructions to perform one or more of the above method steps.
MICROFLUIDIC DEVICES WITH ELECTRODES FORMED AS PHYSICALLY SEPARATED SECTIONS OF MICROCHANNEL SIDE WALLS
A device includes a first layer of an electrically insulating material and a second layer of a non-electrically insulating material (e.g., semiconductor or electrically conductive) extending on the first layer. The second layer is structured so as to define opposite, lateral walls of a microchannel, a bottom wall of which is defined by an exposed surface of the first layer. The second layer is further structured to form one or more electrical insulation barriers; each barrier includes a line of through holes, each surrounded by an oxidized region of the material of the second layer. The through holes alternate with oxidized portions of the oxidized region along the line. Each barrier extends, as a whole, laterally across the second layer up to one of the lateral walls and delimits two sections of the second layer on each side of the barrier and on a same side of the microchannel.
Method of providing a plurality of through-holes in a layer of structural material
A method of providing a MEMS device including a through-hole in a layer of structural material using a multitude of MEMS method steps. A versatile method to create a through-hole, in particular a multitude thereof, involves a step of exposing a polymeric layer of positive photoresist in a direction from the outer surface of the positive photoresist to light resulting in an exposed layer of positive photoresist including relatively strongly depolymerized positive photoresist in the top section of a recess while leaving relatively less strongly depolymerized positive photoresist in the bottom section of the recess.

A method of making a portion of a microfluidic channel includes lithographically patterning a first pattern into a first layer of photoresist disposed on a substrate, the first pattern representative of morphology of a reservoir rock; etching the first pattern into the substrate to form a patterned substrate; disposing a second layer of photoresist onto the patterned substrate; lithographically patterning a second pattern into the second layer of photoresist to reveal portions of the patterned substrate; and depositing calcite onto the exposed portions of the patterned substrate.

Embodiments disclosed herein include lithographic patterning systems for non-orthogonal patterning and devices formed with such patterning. In an embodiment, a lithographic patterning system comprises an actinic radiation source, where the actinic radiation source is configured to propagate light along an optical axis. In an embodiment, the lithographic patterning system further comprises a mask mount, where the mask mount is configurable to orient a surface of a mask at a first angle with respect to the optical axis. In an embodiment, the lithographic patterning system further comprises a lens module, and a substrate mount, where the substrate mount is configurable to orient a surface of a substrate at a second angle with respect to the optical axis.
MEMS SENSOR PACKAGE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD
Disclosed herein is a MEMS sensor package that includes a substrate, an annular-shaped first dry film pattern stuck to one surface of the substrate, and a MEMS sensor chip including a tubular support and a detection part which is supported on the support so as to overlap a cavity of the support. The MEMS sensor chip is fixed to the substrate by sticking an annular mounting surface of the support to the first dry film pattern.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FABRICATING A MEMS DEVICE
A method includes forming a bumpstop from a first intermetal dielectric (IMD) layer and forming a via within the first IMD, wherein the first IMD is disposed over a first polysilicon layer, and wherein the first polysilicon layer is disposed over another IMD layer that is disposed over a substrate. The method further includes depositing a second polysilicon layer over the bumpstop and further over the via to connect to the first polysilicon layer. A standoff is formed over a first portion of the second polysilicon layer, and wherein a second portion of the second polysilicon layer is exposed. The method includes depositing a bond layer over the standoff.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FABRICATING A MEMS DEVICE
A device includes a substrate and an intermetal dielectric (IMD) layer disposed over the substrate. The device also includes a first plurality of polysilicon layers disposed over the IMD layer and over a bumpstop. The device also includes a second plurality of polysilicon layers disposed within the IMD layer. The device includes a patterned actuator layer with a first side and a second side, wherein the first side of the patterned actuator layer is lined with a polysilicon layer, and wherein the first side of the patterned actuator layer faces the bumpstop. The device further includes a standoff formed over the IMD layer, a via through the standoff making electrical contact with the polysilicon layer of the actuator and a portion of the second plurality of polysilicon layers and a bond material disposed on the second side of the patterned actuator layer.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FABRICATING MICROSTRUCTURES
Methods for forming microstructures in photocurable material are described. At least one image of light or radiation for curing the photocurable material is applied in a pattern corresponding to the image. The image is formed by near-field diffraction of the light or radiation and comprises areas of higher intensity adjacent to areas of lower intensity.
