Elimination of ammonia and lower alkanes and/or hydrogen from waste gas streams in industrial plants
Methods for the combined elimination of both ammonia and lower alkanes and/or hydrogen, which are contained in one or more waste gas streams in an industrial plant, are disclosed herein. The method is effectuated by combined oxidation and reduction according to the reduction-oxidation process, wherein the ammonia and the lower alkanes and/or hydrogen are completely or partially reacted by chemical reaction to form nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water. The waste gas stream containing ammonia and lower alkanes and/or hydrogen is passed over one or more catalysts for the combined oxidation and reduction, and the oxygen content in the waste gas stream is set in such a way that ammonia and the lower alkanes and/or hydrogen are oxidized first in an oxidation zone to form nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water, and the nitrogen oxides resulting therefrom are subsequently reduced in a reduction zone to form elemental nitrogen.
METHOD FOR PREPARING A CATALYST-CONTAINING CERAMIC FILTER FOR OFF-GAS OR EXHAUST GAS CLEANING
A catalyst-containing ceramic dust filter for off-gas or exhaust gas cleaning is prepared by a method comprising the steps of making a water-based impregnation slurry, which comprises a catalytically effective amount of at least one catalytically active metal and an oxide support, to form a catalytically active metal oxide support, impregnating the filter substrate with the impregnation slurry, spraying from the inside to control the amount of liquor while leaving the outer few millimeters of the filter wall dry, and drying the impregnated filter. The impregnated filter is preferably dried by using microwave energy.

Method for heat-treating a material flow and for cleaning resulting exhaust gases
Methods for the heat treatment of a material flow and the cleaning of resulting exhaust gases are disclosed. The material flow may be preheated in a preheating zone, burned in a sintering zone, and cooled in a cooling zone. Exhaust gases of the sintering zone may flow through a preheater and be used for preheating the material flow. The exhaust gases leaving the preheater may be cooled at least partially in a comminuting device in interconnected operation or at least partially in a cooling device in direct operation. Exhaust gases may then be at least partly dedusted in a dust filter.
