The apparatus further comprises a lever formed by a portion of the upper section bent at a perpendicular angle, the lever is configured to adjust an impact of the baffle by adjusting a position of the baffle member relative to an interior wall of the reactor.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PREPARING POLY-ALPHA-OLEFIN

An apparatus for preparing polyalpha-olefins has an input unit (1), a microchannel reactor (2), and a post-treatment unit (3) that are successively connected. The input unit has a mixer and/or pipeline(s) for delivering an olefin raw material, an auxiliary feed and a BF.sub.3 catalyst to the microchannel reactor (2). The apparatus and process that utilizes the apparatus allow flexible and rapid mixing of the catalyst, the auxiliary feed and the olefin raw material, and have the advantages of high polymerization reaction speed, good mass and heat transfer effects, high reaction conversion, good product selectivity and excellent performance, thereby being suitable for large-scale industrial production.

Radiant non-catalytic recuperative reformer

A radiant, non-catalytic recuperative reformer has a flue gas flow path for conducting hot exhaust gas from a thermal process and a reforming mixture flow path for conducting a reforming mixture. At least a portion of the reforming mixture flow path is positioned adjacent to the flue gas flow path to permit heat transfer from the hot exhaust gas to the reforming mixture. The reforming mixture flow path contains substantially no material commonly used as a catalyst for reforming hydrocarbon fuel (e.g., nickel oxide, platinum group elements or rhenium), but instead the reforming mixture is reformed into a higher calorific fuel via reactions due to the heat transfer and residence time. In a preferred embodiment, a portion of the reforming mixture flow path is positioned outside of flue gas flow path for a relatively large residence time.

EXPANDABLE CENTER ARRANGEMENT

An expandable center arrangement for a reactor is disclosed. The arrangement comprises an expansion tube; a center support inside the expansion tube and three or more spring elements. The spring elements are fastened to the center support and arc out to the expansion tube. A reactor is also disclosed.

System and method for controlling and optimizing the hydrothermal upgrading of heavy crude oil and bitumen
09783742 · 2017-10-10 · ·

A system and method is provided for upgrading a continuously flowing process stream including heavy crude oil (HCO). A reactor receives the process stream in combination with water, at an inlet temperature within a range of about 60° C. to about 200° C. The reactor includes one or more process flow tubes having a combined length of about 30 times their aggregated transverse cross-sectional dimension, and progressively heats the process stream to an outlet temperature T(max)1 within a range of between about 260° C. to about 400° C. The reactor maintains the process stream at a pressure sufficient to ensure that it remains a single phase at T(max)1. A controller selectively adjusts the rate of flow of the process stream through the reactor to maintain a total residence time of greater than about 1 minute and less than about 25 minutes.

An object of the present invention is to prevent stress-corrosion cracking of a header (40) of a reactor. A reactor for producing trichlorosilane by causing metal silicon powder and a hydrogen chloride gas to react with each other includes a cooler (70), the cooler including a plurality of heat transfer medium pipes (30) and a header (40), the plurality of heat transfer medium pipes being provided in a fluid bed (60) inside the reactor, the header being provided in a freeboard section (50) inside the reactor, the header being comprised of a corrosion-resistant material.

Reactor Assemblies and Methods of Performing Reactions

Reactors are provided that can include a first set of fluid channels and a second set of fluid channels oriented in thermal contact with the first set of fluid channels. The reactor assemblies can also provide where the channels of either one or both of the first of the set of fluid channels are non-linear. Other implementations provide for at least one of the first set of fluid channels being in thermal contact with a plurality of other channels of the second set of fluid channels. Reactor assemblies are also provided that can include a first set of fluid channels defining at least one non-linear channel having a positive function, and a second set of fluid channels defining at least another non-linear channel having a negative function in relation to the positive function of the one non-linear channel of the first set of fluid channels. Processes for distributing energy across a reactor are provided. The processes can include transporting reactants via a first set of fluid channels to a second set of fluid channels, and thermally engaging at least one of the first set of fluid channels with at least two of the second set of fluid channels.

TUBE TO TUBE SHEET WELDING FOR FABRICATION OF VERTICAL BOILING REACTOR WITH REDUCED TUBE PITCH
20220226937 · 2022-07-21 · ·

Reduced tube pitch within a shell-and-tube heat exchange reactor such as, for example, an EO reactor, is provided by utilizing a welding material that has a high tensile (i.e., a tensile strength of greater than 600 MPa). Reduced tube pitch allows for more elongated tubes (the tubes are filled with a catalyst) to be present in a reactor, and thus a smaller reactor can be manufactured. Notably, the use of a high tensile strength welding material allows the implementation of a small welding groove located between a beveled sidewall of a beveled upper portion of an opening provided in a tube sheet overlay material (that is located atop a tube sheet) and an outermost sidewall of the elongated tube passing through the opening in the tube sheet overlay material.
