Luminous glazed vehicle roof, vehicle incorporating same and manufacture
The present invention relates to a luminous vehicle sunroof that includes a first glazing with first and second main faces, a light-emitting element such as an OLED or QLED and a collimating optical system with one or more optical films.
GLASS UNIT FOR AN ILLUMINATED VEHICLE ROOF, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A GLASS UNIT, AND ILLUMINATED VEHICLE ROOF
A glass unit for an illuminated vehicle roof including a glass pane, a glass primer layer, and a polyurethane layer. The glass pane is provided, on one side, with the glass primer layer, wherein a polyurethane layer is in turn applied to the glass primer layer.
Windows With Laminated Glass Layers
A vehicle or other system may have windows. The windows may be formed by laminating together glass layers. The glass layers may include a curved inner glass layer with a convex outer surface and a curved outer glass layer with a concave inner surface. A polymer adhesive film such as a polyvinyl butyral film may be adhered to the convex outer surface. An additional polymer layer formed from a different material than the polymer film may be interposed between the polymer film and the second glass layer. The additional polymer layer may be formed from a gap-filling liquid polymer adhesive layer. The layer of gap-filling liquid polymer adhesive may have a first surface adhered to the polymer film and a second surface adhered to the concave inner surface. An optical layer may be embedded in the additional polymer layer.
Protective housing for automotive glazings and other applications
A protective housing wherein two parts (102, 104) of the housing may be closed together to encapsulate connectors and associated components that are external to the glazing laminate. The protective housing is sealed to the glazing and between the two parts to provide a fluid-tight housing. The parts of the protective housing are connected to the glazing and to each other by adhesive layers (116, 118, 120). A vehicle glazing (10) wherein a light guide stack (22) is located between a portion of the inner transparency (26) and the outer transparency (28). The light guide stack includes a polycarbonate film (32) that is bonded to the transparencies by layers of PET (38, 40) that are secured to the polycarbonate film on one side by silicone (34, 36) and that are secured to the transparencies on the other side by PVB (42, 44). The terminal end of an extending tab of the polycarbonate film forms an edge that is connected to a light bar (14) that such visible light propagates through the light bar and into the polycarbonate film through the edge. Visible light propagates through etchings in the smooth surface of the polycarbonate film to form an image. An extension of one of the transparencies protects the polycarbonate tab and supports the light bar during installation of the glazing into the vehicle portal.
Vehicle Window Pane Comprising a Light Source and a Light-Conducting Layer
A vehicle window pane having a window pane body assembly having an outer side, which faces a vehicle environment, and an inner side, which faces a vehicle interior, and having a light-conducting layer; and a light source configured to couple its light into the light-conducting layer. An input coupling element coupling light emitted by the light source into the light-conducting layer is disposed on the inner side of the window pane body assembly.
GLASS UNIT FOR AN ILLUMINATED VEHICLE ROOF, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A GLASS UNIT, AND ILLUMINATED VEHICLE ROOF
A glass unit for an illuminated vehicle roof has a glass pane, a plastic film and an outer and an inner polyurethane layer. These components are stacked one on top of the other in a planar manner in the following order: glass pane, inner polyurethane layer, plastic film, outer polyurethane layer. Furthermore, the plastic film has a lower refractive index than the adjacent outer polyurethane layer.
Illuminated laminate with superior aesthetics and brightness
The trend towards increasing the glazed area in automobiles has reduced the potential locations for mounting cabin lighting. This is especially true for vehicles having large panoramic glazing. Attempts to utilize integrated light sources within the glazing have had mixed results. Embedded LEDs in the laminate tend to be too bright for night driving. Edge feed illumination with light dispersing elements on the glass to date have only been able to provide low intensity levels. Both approaches tend to reduce visibility and aesthetics in the off state. The current invention provides a means and a method to produce a laminate which provides bright cabin lighting without compromising the function of the glazing to serve as a window, by creating a light dispersing layer that is substantially invisible when in the off state and very bright in the on state.
Light guide plate and transparent illumination system utilizing the same
A transparent illumination system and related light guide plate is provided. The system is configured to facilitate total internal reflection propagation of light through the light guide plate despite low index of refraction differences between the glass material of the light guide layer and the adjacent layer. The system includes a light source, such as a laser diode, and an optical element to fan out light from the light source in the plane of the light guide plate. The light guide plate includes internal light extraction features.
AN OPTIMISED DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE
An optimized display system for a vehicle using a glass assembly. The system includes a power source coupled to the processing unit for providing an input DC voltage. The processing unit is coupled to the power source. The processing unit is configured to receive input. The processing unit generates a command signal to interactively control a display unit in response to at least one input. A convertor is coupled to the processing unit. The convertor is configured to generate at least one of an output AC voltage or output DC voltage based on the command signal. The display unit includes one or more illumination devices sandwiched in the glass assembly.
HEAD UP DISPLAY SYSTEM
A Head up display system includes a projection light source, laminated glass, and a transparent nano film. The transparent nano film includes at least one laminated structure consisting of a high refractive-index layer and a low refractive-index layer, where the high refractive-index layer and the low refractive-index layer is deposited sequentially outwards from the surface of the inner glass pane. The projection light source is configured to generate P-polarized light. A ratio of near-red light reflectivity R1 at wavelengths ranging from 580 nm to 680 nm of the laminated glass with the transparent nano film to near-blue light reflectivity R2 at wavelengths ranging from 420 nm to 470 nm of the laminated glass with the transparent nano film is R1/R2=1.0˜2.0.
