VEHICLE INTERIOR PANEL WITH REINFORCING LAYER AND RELATED METHOD
A vehicle interior panel for use over an airbag includes a reinforcing layer overmolded with a molding material during a substrate molding operation. The substrate molding tool includes an extendable and retractable slide configured to clamp opposing edge portions of the reinforcing layer to a clamping surface of the tool to secure the reinforcing layer in a cavity of the molding tool to prevent unwanted movement of the layer when subjected to high pressure and high viscosity molding material when the mold cavity is filled. The opposing edge portions of the reinforcing layer are provided along separate pieces of the layer and/or along one or more openings formed through the layer.
Vehicle interior panel having an expandable airbag chute
A vehicle interior panel for use over an airbag and configured to split along a tear seam in an airbag door region of the panel during airbag deployment includes a chute located along a back side of the panel for guiding the airbag toward the airbag door region during airbag deployment. The chute has a wall interconnecting opposite sides of the chute, the wall being configured to split at a predetermined location such that the opposite sides of the chute move away from each other to enlarge the airbag door region during airbag deployment. The wall may have an inner portion and an outer portion. The inner portion may at least partly define an inner surface of the chute. A cavity may be defined between the inner portion and the outer portion of the wall. The inner portion of the wall may include the predetermined location.
Vehicle trim component
A component for a vehicle interior may comprise a composite structure comprising a fiber panel and a cover. The fiber panel may comprise a conductor. The conductor may provide a functional circuit for the composite structure. The conductor may comprise a pattern of electrically conductive threads. Conductive thread may be within the fiber panel. Conductive thread may be stitched into/onto the fiber panel. The conductor may comprise a stitch pattern comprising conductive thread comprising the functional circuit. The functional circuit may comprise a user interface, an input device, an output device, and/or a circuit element. The composite structure may comprise a resin structure for the fiber panel adjacent to the functional circuit. The component may comprise a trim panel, instrument panel, door panel, overhead panel, console, overhead console, floor console, interior trim component, pillar trim, operator control, steering control/wheel, etc.
CRASH PAD MODULE, MOLD FOR MANUFACTURING CRASH PAD MODULE, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CRASH PAD MODULE USING SAME
A crash pad module including a crash pad, an airbag door configured to be opened in a first direction when a portion of the crash pad is cut, and a scrim inserted into the crash pad and the airbag door, the scrim including a bent portion formed by bending a portion of the scrim, a through hole being formed in a hinge of the airbag door, and the bent portion being disposed at a location corresponding to the through hole.
COVER ELEMENT, AIRBAG MODULE, DASHBOARD, VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEM AND METHOD
The invention relates to a cover element for an airbag module comprising a tear line and at least one hinge area for opening the cover element by swiveling at least one flap which is formed by the tear line when the cover element is opened, wherein at least one stiffening rib having a weakened material portion extends between the tear line and the hinge area. The cover element excels by the fact that the weakened material portion is configured on the side of the hinge area.
Trim part
A trim part, in particular for covering an airbag in a vehicle, is provided. The trim part comprises at least one outer layer, at least one hinge layer comprising at least one first break line which forms a first part of a perimeter of a flap area and is attached to a first surface of the at least one outer layer, at least one structural layer attached to a first surface of the at least one hinge layer facing away from the at least one outer layer characterized in that at least one of the at least one outer layer comprises a fiber composite material and the at least one structural layer comprises at least one second break line forming a breakthrough area corresponding to the flap area of the at least one hinge layer.
Trim element comprising a guiding device for an airbag, said guiding device comprising an overmolded structure
A trim element having a body and a guiding device integral with the body and including a transversal wall and a flap connected to the transversal wall by a hinge. The flap is movable relative to the transversal wall between a closed position and an opened position. The guiding device has an overmolded structure including a transversal wall portion extending in the thickness of the transversal wall and a flap portion extending in the thickness of the flap. The guiding device further includes a net, having one end overmolded by the transversal wall portion and one central portion overmolded by the flap portion.
Airbag chute-integrated crash pad assembly and method of manufacturing same
An airbag chute-integrated crash pad assembly includes: a main core that includes a door portion expanding when an airbag expands, and a cover portion mounted on a dash board. In particular, the main core is formed with a reinforcement portion extending downward from a lower surface of the cover portion, and the door portion and the cover portion are separated by a hinge groove that is formed in a lower surface of the main core and forms an expansion line. The reinforcement portion is combined with an airbag accommodation body that accommodates a passenger airbag (PAB). Thus, process optimization can be realized by omitting a process of machining a score and fusing a PAB chute, and also a problem of damage to the PAB chute can be solved.
Door-mounted airbag assembly
A door for a vehicle includes a door panel. An airbag is mounted to the door panel and is inflatable to an inflated position. A trim panel includes a base segment fixed to the door panel. The trim panel includes a releasable segment positioned to be impacted by the airbag during inflation of the airbag. The releasable segment has a first end and a second end and is elongated between the first end and the second end. A hinge is between the releasable segment and the base segment. The hinge is at the first end of the releasable segment and defines an axis of rotation about which the second end of the releasable segment is rotatable.
Safety module for a vehicle
A safety module for a vehicle includes a housing having an opening that accommodates an airbag associated with the safety module during deployment of the airbag, and at least one cover attached over the opening of the housing. The cover is connected to the housing through one or more hinges, where each hinge is formed by one or more curved portions and one or more flat portions arranged adjacent to each other along a hinge axis. The flat portions include one or more ribs protruding from an upper surface of the flat portions, which can be welded to an inner surface of a carrier of the vehicle for preventing the separation of the cover during airbag deployment.
