An occupant protection system includes a first airbag device, a second airbag device, and an airbag control processor. The first airbag device includes a first bag. The first bag is configured to be deployed along a side surface of a compartment of a vehicle upon a side impact of the vehicle. The second airbag device includes a second bag. The second bag includes a shoulder pressing part. The shoulder pressing part is configured to be deployed between a seat back and a shoulder, of an occupant, on an outer side in a vehicle width direction. The airbag control processor is configured to control deployment and non-deployment of the shoulder pressing part of the second airbag device in accordance with a state of the side impact of the vehicle.

Vehicle airbag system and control method

The vehicle airbag system includes: a front airbag mounted to a portion of a vehicle in front of a passenger and configured to be unfolded toward a front of the passenger; an upper airbag mounted to a portion of the vehicle above the passenger and configured to be unfolded toward the front of the passenger; a seat detector configured to detect a seating posture of the passenger; and a controller configured to control unfolding of the front airbag or the upper airbag on the basis of the passenger's seating posture detected by the seat detector.

The seat airbag device for a vehicle includes: a main chamber located in a vehicle seat at a side portion of an occupant and configured to be deployed toward a front portion of the vehicle when gas is injected thereinto; a sub-chamber connected to a front end of the main chamber and configured to be deployed in a direction intersecting a deployment direction of the main chamber when the gas is injected thereinto; and an expansion portion expanded from the front end of the main chamber and connected to an upper portion or a lower portion of the sub-chamber.

Deployable structure with main chamber and reaction chamber

A system includes a body structure, an assembly that is connected to the body structure, an airbag assembly that includes a housing that is located behind a first portion of the body structure and a deployable structure. The deployable structure is located in the housing in a stowed position and extends outward relative to the housing in an inflated position. The deployable structure includes a main chamber that is located adjacent to the seat assembly in the inflated position, and a reaction chamber that is spaced from the seat assembly by the main chamber in the inflated position. The deployable structure is configured so that forces that are applied to the main chamber of the deployable structure in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle cause the reaction chamber to move in a lateral direction so that the reaction chamber engages the body structure.
