High-capacity, low-temperature, passive NOx and cd adsorbers and methods for making same
Disclosed are passive NO.sub.x adsorbers and methods for synthesizing the same. Small-pore zeolitic materials with practical loadings of transition metals atomically dispersed in the micropores are described herein. Also demonstrated are simple and scalable synthesis routes to high loadings of atomically dispersed transition metals in the micropores of a small-pore zeolite.

A pillar-shaped honeycomb structure including an outer peripheral side wall, a plurality of first cells provided on an inner peripheral side of the outer peripheral side wall, the first cells extending from a first end surface to a second end surface, each opening on the first end surface and having a sealing portion with an average void ratio of 4% or less on the second end surface, and a plurality of second cells provided on the inner peripheral side of the outer peripheral side wall, the second cells extending from the first end surface to the second end surface, each having a sealing portion with an average void ratio of 4% or less on the first end surface and opening on the second end surface, the first cells and the second cells being alternately arranged adjacent to each other with a partition wall interposed therebetween.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION CATALYST
Provided is an exhaust gas purification catalyst capable of reducing a noble metal amount while maintaining a catalyst performance, which comprises a substrate and at least three catalyst coating layers formed on the substrate, the first and third catalyst coating layers contain Pd as a catalyst metal and are formed in a range of a predetermined length from an upstream end surface in an exhaust gas flow direction, and the second catalyst coating layer contains Rh as a catalyst metal and is formed in a range of a predetermined length from a downstream end surface in the exhaust gas flow direction.
Cerium oxide particles and method for production thereof
The present invention relates to cerium oxide particles that have excellent heat resistance especially useful for catalysts, functional ceramics, solid electrolyte for fuel cells, polishing, ultraviolet absorbers and the like, and particularly suitable for use as a catalyst or co-catalyst material, for instance in catalysis for purifying vehicle exhaust gas. The present invention also relates to a method for preparing such cerium oxide particles, and a catalyst, such as for purifying exhaust gas, utilizing these cerium oxide particles.
NITROGEN OXIDE SORBENT AND EXHAUST GAS CLEANING CATALYST
A nitrogen oxide storage material comprising: Mg.sub.1−yAl.sub.2O.sub.4−y, wherein y is a number satisfying 0≤y≤0.2, a noble metal, an oxide of a metal other than the noble metal, and a barium compound, the noble metal, the oxide, and the barium compound being loaded on Mg.sub.1−yAl.sub.2O.sub.4−y. The metal oxide comprises at least one metal oxide selected from zirconium oxide, praseodymium oxide, niobium oxide, and iron oxide.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION CATALYST
An exhaust gas purification catalyst including an alkaline-earth metal carried on a porous carrier in a highly dispersed state. The catalyst layer of the exhaust gas purification catalyst has an alkaline-earth metal carrying region including a porous carrier, Pt, and a sulfuric acid salt of at least one alkaline-earth metal carried on the porous carrier, wherein a value of R.sub.Ae/Pt is 0.5 or more, where R.sub.Ae/Pt represents the Pearson's correlation coefficient calculated using α and β in each pixel obtained by, for a cross section of the region, performing the area analysis by FE-EPMA under the conditions of: pixel size 0.34 μm×0.34 μm; and number of measured pixels 256×256; and measuring an intensity (α: cps) of a characteristic X ray of an element (Ae) of the alkaline-earth metal and an intensity (β: cps) of a characteristic X ray of Pt for each pixel.

An exhaust gas purification system for vehicle includes: a housing disposed on an exhaust pipe to receive a exhaust gas discharged from an engine and to exhaust the exhaust gas passed rearward; a front end catalyst disposed in the housing to purify the exhaust gas flowing into the housing through a front end of the housing; a rear end catalyst disposed in the housing to purify the exhaust gas passing through the front end catalyst before the exhaust gas flows out to a rear end of the housing; and a controller connected to the exhaust pipe at a front end of the housing to control a concentration of unburned fuel contained in the exhaust gas flowing into the housing.
Vehicle aftertreatment system enabling the change in the sequence of operating aftertreatment devices
A vehicle engine aftertreatment system includes: a purification module including a plurality of aftertreatment devices having different characteristics, the aftertreatment devices being arranged in parallel; an upstream selection device provided at one side of the purification module for selectively supplying exhaust gas from an engine to one of the aftertreatment devices; and a downstream selection device provided at the other side of the purification module for discharging exhaust gas from one of the aftertreatment devices to out of the purification module.
PALLADIUM/ZEOLITE-BASED PASSIVE NITROGEN OXIDE ADSORBER CATALYST FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS
The invention relates to a catalyst which comprises a carrier substrate, palladium, and a zeolite, the largest channels of which are formed by 10 tetradrically coordinated atoms; to the use of said catalyst as a passive nitrogen oxide adsorber, an exhaust gas system which contains said catalyst and an SCR catalyst, and to a method for purifying the exhaust gas of motor vehicles using said exhaust gas system.
