Medical protective clothing materials
Protective clothing materials and related methods and garments are provided. In some embodiments, a protective clothing material may comprise a fibrous layer that serves as a barrier to certain fluids (e.g., bodily fluids, water) and microbes. The impermeability of the fibrous layer may be due, at least in part, to the structural uniformity and/or relatively small pore size of the fibrous layer. In some embodiments, the fibrous layer may have a relatively high air permeability that imparts beneficial properties (e.g., relatively high air flow, breathability) to the protective clothing material without adversely affecting its protection rating. In certain embodiments, the protective clothing material may also comprise one or more coarse nonwoven webs that impart beneficial properties (e.g., splash resistance) to the protective clothing material. The protective clothing materials, described herein, may be particularly useful for a wide variety of applications, including the formation of AAMI level 4 protective garments.
Surgical Personal Protection Apparatus
A personal protection system for providing a sterile barrier around medical/surgical personnel. The system includes a helmet over which a hood or a toga suspended. A microphone, an amplifier and a speaker are mounted to the helmet. Speech of the individual wearing the personal protection system is picked up by the microphone and amplified speech is broadcast by the speaker. The speaker is outwardly directed so as to broadcast the speech out through the hood or toga covering the helmet.
Seamless protective apparel
A sleeve for a protective garment, such as a medical gown, includes a knit, woven, or non-woven layer and a seamless layer that are laminated together. The knit, woven, or non-woven layer can be a circularly knit seamless layer, or alternatively can have seams. The seamless layer can be water or vapor impermeable or resistant so as to prevent microorganisms, pathogens, liquids, or other substances from passing through the sleeve.
REUSABLE, REAR OPENING ISOLATION GOWN WITH EASY RELEASE FASTENER
A personal protective equipment (PPE) rear opening isolation gown is provided that can be used by workers in the healthcare industry. The isolation gown is reusable and can provide for ease of doffing, such as in a pull forward manner that is consistent with how current users of disposable isolation gowns are accustomed to removing such gowns, without substantial risk of damaging (e.g., tearing) the gown and without substantial risk of the transfer of potentially harmful microorganisms, body fluids, and/or particulate material, to the neck or hair on the head or neck of a wearer. The reusable, rear opening isolation gown is provided with an easy release fastener(s) that provides a safe and secure hold when fastened but permits the gown to be removed easily, quickly, and more safely than other reusable options.
LIQUID-IMPERMEABLE STITCHING METHOD FOR SEAM OF VAPOR-PERMEABLE VIRUS-BARRIER FABRIC
A fluid impervious stitching method for a seam of a vapor-permeable virus-barrier laminate. The laminate comprises: at least one thermoplastic resin fiber layer; at least one vapor-permeable virus-barrier thermoplastic elastomer film layer; and a bonding layer located between the two layers and formed of an adhesive capable of being fused with the two layers. In the stitching method, overlapping or stacking is performed to form a seam, and heat sealing is performed on the laminate at the seam. The temperature of heat sealing is higher than the melting point of a material layer having the highest melting point in the laminate, but lower than the temperature at which perforation or decomposition occurs in any material layer in the laminate. The heat-stitched seam has excellent windproof, vapor-permeable, virus barrier and liquid-barrier performance, has a smooth appearance without wrinkles, and feels soft. Also provided is a protective textile product prepared by means of the stitching method.
NEUROMUSCULAR ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM
A neuromuscular enhancement system comprising engineered textile structures is worn by a user to increase strength, preserve energy, and increase motion accuracy. It can be used in surgery and interface with operating room technology, allowing the surgeon to perform surgery for longer hours and with increased accuracy. The system is a flexible structure, worn over the user's body, comprising engineered textile materials that apply forces to different areas of the user's body. The engineered materials can be activated to apply a force to a region of the body to assist in desired user output. The engineered materials can be embedded with sensors to detect and monitor motion and other properties. The engineered materials can be embedded with a communication system that communicates between a computer system and the system and its sensors and components. The enhancement system can be configured for use in applications other than surgery.
ISOLATION GOWN WITH ADJUSTABLE NECK CLOSURE
The present disclosure relates to an isolation gown. In particular, the present disclosure relates to an isolation gown, comprising a garment body including opening running a length of the garment body and terminating at a neck opening, the garment body having a first side and a second side and being configured to permit a wearer to don the medical gown, sleeves extending distally from the garment body, and one or more restraining mechanisms configured to secure the garment body, the sleeves, or a combination thereof, to a body of the wearer, wherein the one or more restraining mechanisms including an actuatable portion utilizing friction to allow the neck opening of the garment body to be contracted to a size of a neck of the wearer, and expanded to be larger than a shoulder width of the wearer.
System and Method for Enhancing Sterility
A system for enhancing sterility includes a first surgical glove including an upper glove portion and a lower glove portion. A surgical garment includes at least one surgical garment cuff and a sealing device including a first adhesive. The first adhesive of the sealing device is configured to be affixed between an inside surface of the lower portion of the first surgical glove and an outside surface of the at least one surgical garment cuff so as to provide a fluid seal between the first surgical glove and the at least one surgical garment cuff of the surgical garment.
Apparatus and method for making and folding an article
A method for manufacturing and folding a gown which increases manufacturing efficiency and consistency and decreases the time to manufacture. Additionally, the method includes folding a gown for packaging which will allow a person to don the gown with minimal contact with the outer portions of the gown.
Collar for a Disposable Surgical Gown
A collar for a disposable surgical gown is provided. The collar includes a first portion having a first end and second end and a second portion having a first and second end. The first ends of the first portion and the second portion meet at a front of the collar to form a v-neck shape and the second ends of the first portion and the second portion meet at a rear of the collar to define a neck opening. The v-neck shape at the front of the collar forms an angle of greater than 90 at the neck opening, while the second end of the first portion and the second end of the second portion are tapered at the rear of the collar. Such an arrangement prevents the collar from gapping when a wearer leans forward or moves during, for instance, a surgical procedure.
