Permanently Embedded Protective Covering for Articles of Clothing
The present invention involves an article of clothing having a permanently embedded protective covering in the article of clothing over at least one predetermined portion of the clothing that can be worn by infants, children and adults. The protective covering is made from a thermoplastic material that is applied to and thermally bonds or co-mingles with only the outermost fabric fibers of the clothing creating a permanently embedded, liquid impermeable, non-porous protective covering, including an increased height edge, which covering retains the same flexibility as the underlying fabric of the clothing article. The protective covering can be positioned across the top front portion of the clothing article and extend downward to a lower portion of the front of the clothing article creating an easy to clean particle and dirt resistant covering for the clothing article.
Multi-Layered Structure and Articles Formed Therefrom Having Improved Splash Resistance by Increased Interlayer Spacing
A splash resistant multi-layered structure is provided. The structure includes a specific arrangement of layers of material and a plurality of three-dimensional spacers that helps prevent penetration through the structure by a fluid that contacts an outer surface of the structure due to a state of forced separation that exists between two adjacent layers of the structure due to the presence of the plurality of three-dimensional spacers positioned between the layers. The plurality of three-dimensional spacers can be positioned on one of the adjacent layers of the structure such that a distance at least as large as the maximum height of the plurality of three-dimensional spacers separates the two layers from each other and can be present on a layer of material in a continuous or discontinuous pattern or can be present on a layer of material in a random fashion. The presence of the three-dimensional spacers can reduce the basis weight or eliminate one or more layers of the structure, which, in turn, can reduce thermal resistance, lower the pressure drop across the layers of the structure, and reduce the overall weight of the structure to enhance breathability and comfort.
Garments for healthcare workers
According to techniques of this application, a garment may include a trunk, three left sleeves, and three right sleeves. Two of the left sleeves may be short sleeves. The third left sleeve may be a long sleeve. Two of the right sleeves may be short sleeves. The third right sleeve may be a long sleeve. The first left sleeve may be attached to the trunk. The second left sleeve may be attached to either the trunk or to the first left short sleeve. A segment of the third left sleeve may extend distally from the distal ends of the first and second left sleeves. The first right sleeve may be attached to the trunk. The second right sleeve may be attached to either the trunk or to the first right short sleeve. A segment of the third right sleeve may extend distally from the distal ends of the first and second right sleeves.
Gown with Moisture Contact Indicator
A gown (100) includes a body covering (101) disposed between a first sleeve (102) and a second sleeve (103). The body covering portion includes a first layer (106) coupled to a second layer (107) by an adhesive (108) comprising a unactivated colorant, such as an unactivated dye (109). The unactivated colorant transitions to an activated colorant (201) when wet, and the second layer absorbs the activated colorant.
Enhanced medical wear with built-in equipment retainment features
A pair of scrub pants is provided having a built-in retainment feature. The pair of scrub pants comprises two pant legs extending downward from a bottom side of a hip region and a waistband disposed on the top side of the hip region. One or more instrument retainment features disposed on the waistband are accessible to the user. The one or more instrument retainment features have a first position where one or more instrument retainment features rest flat against the waistband. The instrument retainment features can comprise one or more of elastic bands, hooks, snap fasteners, among others.
Medical/surgical personal protection system including a helmet, the helmet having a fan and a fan housing that are curved to curve around the head of the individual wearing the helmet
A personal protection system for providing a sterile barrier around medical/surgical personnel. The system includes a helmet over which a hood or a toga suspended. A microphone, an amplifier and a speaker are mounted to the helmet. Speech of the individual wearing the personal protection system is picked up by the microphone and amplified speech is broadcast by the speaker. The speaker is outwardly directed so as to broadcast the speech out through the hood or toga covering the helmet.
MEDICAL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING MATERIALS
Protective clothing materials and related methods and garments are provided. In some embodiments, a protective clothing material may comprise a fibrous layer that serves as a barrier to certain fluids (e.g., bodily fluids, water) and microbes. The impermeability of the fibrous layer may be due, at least in part, to the structural uniformity and/or relatively small pore size of the fibrous layer. In some embodiments, the fibrous layer may have a relatively high air permeability that imparts beneficial properties (e.g., relatively high air flow, breathability) to the protective clothing material without adversely affecting its protection rating. In certain embodiments, the protective clothing material may also comprise one or more coarse nonwoven webs that impart beneficial properties (e.g., splash resistance) to the protective clothing material. The protective clothing materials, described herein, may be particularly useful for a wide variety of applications, including the formation of AAMI level 4 protective garments.
Medical gown having an integral protective sleeve for medical equipment
A medical protective gown comprising a gown body. A centrally located orifice passes through a central region of a front panel of the gown body. A tubular protective sleeve extends forward from the front panel of the gown body, the tubular protective sleeve being located circumscribing the centrally located orifice. A tubular protective sleeve distal end panel is located at a distal end of the tubular protective sleeve. The tubular sleeve is adapted to receive a stethoscope or any other desired medical instrument. A broadened interior pocket is assembled to an interior surface of the gown body to support an upper, broader portion of the stethoscope or other instrument. A flange can be included with the tubular protective sleeve and/or the broadened interior pocket to aid in attachment to the gown body. The tubular protective sleeve can include a sleeve contraction system to contract the protective sleeve.
Personal protection gown with frontal coverage
Systems, methods, and devices include a personal protection gown to provide frontal protection for the user. The personal protection gown includes a neck protector extending from a front neckline of a body portion of the personal protection gown. The neck protector partially couples to the front neckline such that a separation gap between the neck protector and the body portion is formed (e.g., on either side of the partial coupling and around the back of the neck). Extension straps of the neck protector are pulled around a neck of the user and form a knot to secure the neck protector and the personal protection gown in place. The separation gap provides flexibility in how tightly the neck protector is pulled such that the personal protection gown effectively provides zone A coverage (e.g., as defined by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) for different body shapes and sizes.
STERILE SURGICAL GOWN
A sterile surgical gown is disclosed. The sterile gown comprises a gown body having a front portion and a pair of back portions. The pair of back portions include a left-side portion and a right-side portion linked to the front portion. The gown body extends from a neckline portion to a lower end. The sterile gown further comprises a pair of sleeves attached to the gown body. The sterile gown further comprises one or more straps including a first pair of straps and a second pair of straps attached to the front portion of the gown body. The straps are configured to hold or rest hands, wrists, and arms of users working in the sterile rooms, thereby avoiding and minimizing fatigue to mediate a more user-friendly working environment during various procedures. Further, one or more air ventilation sections are provided in the back portion and under the arms.
