CARBON CAPTURE IN FERMENTATION
What is described is an integrated steel mill and a bioreactor configured to produce useful products from the waste stream of the steel mill. A waste gas stack which is connected to the steel mill is connected to a heat exchanger to cool the waste gas from the steel mill. The cooled gas is pressurized using a pressurization apparatus connected to the heat exchanger. The pressurized gas is sent to an oxygen removal apparatus connected to the pressurization apparatus. An oxygen depleted waste stream from the oxygen removal apparatus is passed to a bioreactor (connected to the oxygen removal apparatus) where microorganisms ferment the waste stream to products. Optional apparatus such as scrubbers, valves, buffers, are also disclosed. The products of the fermentation in the bioreactor can be ethanol and or acetate.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING HYDROGEN AND MAGNETITE FROM ROCK
Systems and methods for sequestering carbon, evolving hydrogen gas, producing iron oxide as magnetite, and producing magnesium carbonate as magnesite through sequential carbonation and serpentinization/hydration reactions involving processed olivine- and/or pyroxene-rich ores, as typically found in mafic and ultramafic igneous rock. Precious or scarce metals, such nickel, cobalt, chromium, rare earth elements, and others, may be concentrated in the remaining ore to facilitate their recovery from any gangue material.
PROCESS AND INTEGRATED PLANT FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE CARBON OXIDES FORMED IN THE PRODUCTION OF ALUMINUM
A process can be used for the treatment of an offgas stream, which is formed in a plant for the production of aluminum by electrolytic reduction of aluminum oxide in a melt, using at least one anode composed of a carbon-containing material. The offgas stream contains carbon oxides due to the reduction of the aluminum oxide by the carbon. At least a substream of the carbon oxides contained in the offgas stream is reacted with hydrogen or mixed with a hydrogen stream and is subsequently passed to a use. After purification and conditioning of the offgas stream in a device, an enrichment, for example with carbon monoxide, can subsequently be carried out in a reactor and the synthesis gas obtained in this way can be fed to a chemical or biotechnological plant for the synthesis of chemicals of value.
REDUCED EMISSIONS USING SYNGAS FERMENTATION
Methods for reducing or reusing emissions and waste from oil and gas processing facilities are described. Specifically, emission and waste streams can be partially oxidized before being treated in a modified syngas fermentation process with parallel bioreactors to produce commodity chemicals of commercial importance while lowering greenhouse gas emissions. At least one bioreactor is online at all times, offline reactors being emptied to collect product and recharged for use.
CHEMICAL RECYCLING OF PLASTIC-DERIVED STREAMS TO A CRACKER SEPARATION ZONE WITH ENHANCED SEPARATION EFFICIENCY
Methods and systems are provided for the conversion of waste plastics into various useful downstream recycle-content products. More particularly, the present system and method involves integrating a pyrolysis facility with a cracker facility by introducing at least a stream of r-pyrolysis gas into the cracker facility. In the cracker facility, the r-pyrolysis gas may be separated to form one or more recycle content products, and can enhance the operation of the facility.

A process for producing syngas from pre-treated recovery plastic polymers comprising:

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LIQUID FUEL PRODUCTION FROM CARBONACEOUS MATERIALS USING RECYCLED CONDITIONED SYNGAS
A method of producing liquid fuel and/or chemicals from a carbonaceous material entails combusting a conditioned syngas in pulse combustion heat exchangers of a steam reformer to help convert carbonaceous material into first reactor product gas which includes carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and other gases. A portion of the first reactor product gas is transferred to a hydrogen reformer into which additional conditioned syngas is added and a reaction carried out to produce an improved syngas. The improved syngas is then subject to one or more gas clean-up steps to form a new conditioned syngas. A portion of the new conditioned syngas is recycled to be used as the conditioned syngas in the pulse combustion heat exchangers and in the hydrocarbon reformer. A system for carrying out the method include, a steam reformer, a hydrocarbon reformer, first and second gas-cleanup systems, a synthesis system and an upgrading system.
HYDROGEN RELEASE/STORAGE SYSTEM, HYDROGEN RELEASE/STORAGE METHOD, AMMONIA PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT, GAS TURBINE, FUEL CELL, AND STEEL MILL
A hydrogen release and storage system (100) of the present invention includes a first hydrogen release and storage unit (100A) composed of a first hydrogen compound member (101A), a first container (102A) that accommodates the first hydrogen compound member (101A), a first heating apparatus (103A) configured to heat an inside of the first container (102A), a first cooling apparatus (104A) configured to cool the inside of the first container (102A), a first water supply apparatus (105A) configured to supply water to the first container (102A), a second hydrogen release and storage unit (100B) composed of a second hydrogen compound member (101B), a second container (102B) that accommodates the second hydrogen compound member (101B), a second heating apparatus (103B) configured to heat an inside of the second container (102B), a second cooling apparatus (104B) configured to cool the inside of the second container (102B) and a second water supply apparatus (105B) configured to supply water to the second container (102B).
Process for the Production of Carburized Sponge Iron
The present disclosure relates to a process for the production of carburized sponge iron. The process comprises the steps of reducing iron ore pellets using a carbon-lean reducing gas in a direct reduction shaft reactor to provide a sponge iron intermediate; transferring the sponge iron intermediate to a carburization unit; and carburizing the sponge iron intermediate in the carburization unit using a carburizing gas to provide carburized sponge iron. The disclosure further relates to a system for the production of carburized sponge iron, a carburized sponge iron produced by the aforementioned process, and a sponge iron intermediate obtained during the production of such a carburized sponge iron.
PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING A FEEDSTOCK
The disclosure is directed to a process and an apparatus for providing a feedstock. A gaseous feed stream comprising at least one hydrocarbon is passed to a reforming unit followed by a water gas shift reaction zone to provide a first gaseous stream comprising H.sub.2, CO, and CO.sub.2. The first gaseous stream is fed a hydrogen separation zone to separate it into a hydrogen enriched stream and a second gaseous stream comprising CO, CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2. The second gaseous stream is fed to a CO.sub.2 to CO conversion system to produce a third gaseous stream comprising H.sub.2 and CO having a H.sub.2:CO molar ratio of less than 5:1. The third gaseous stream is fed as the feedstock for a gas fermentation unit to have increased stability and product selectivity.
