The present invention pertains to a ferroelectric fluoropolymer, to a process for manufacturing said fluoropolymer and to uses of said fluoropolymer in electric and/or electronic applications.

Provided is a processing additive which can bring about improvements in moldability at Mooney viscosity levels at which the dispersibility in a melt-processable resin is high and which further can work at reduced addition levels. The processing additive contains a fluoropolymer having an acid value of not lower than 0.5 KOH mg/g.

A method for producing a fluoropolymer, which includes polymerizing a fluoromonomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of a polymer (1), the polymer (1) including a polymerized unit derived from a monomer CX.sub.2═CY(—CZ.sub.2—O—Rf-A), wherein X is the same or different and is —H or —F; Y is —H, —F, an alkyl group, or a fluorine-containing alkyl group; Z is the same or different and is —H, —F, an alkyl group, or a fluoroalkyl group; Rf is a C1-C40 fluorine-containing alkylene group or a C—C100 fluorine-containing alkylene group and having an ether bond; and A is —COOM, —SO.sub.3M, or —OSO.sub.3M, wherein M is —H, a metal atom, —NR.sup.7.sub.4, imidazolium optionally having a substituent, pyridinium optionally having a substituent, or phosphonium optionally having a substituent, wherein R.sup.7 is H or an organic group, providing that at least one of X, Y, and Z contains a fluorine atom.

CURABLE FLUOROPOLYMER COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING BIS PHTHALONITRILE-CONTAINING COMPOUND AND CURED ARTICLES THEREFROM

Described herein are fluoropolymer compositions comprising a bis phthalonitrile-containing compound. In one embodiment, the bis phthalonitrile-containing compound is used to crosslink a dehydrohalogenated polymer, and optionally with a polyhydroxy curative. In another embodiment, the bis phthalonitrile-containing compound is added to a composition comprising (i) a fluorinated elastomeric gum, wherein the fluorinated elastomeric gum comprises a fluoropolymer having a cure-site and (ii) a peroxide curing system.

Gloss retentive fluorocopolymers for coating applications

Disclosed are protective coating compositions having enhanced gloss retention properties formed by steps comprising: (i) providing one or more fluorocopolymers by copolymerization of (1) one or more hydrofluoroolefin monomer(s) selected from the group consisting of hydrofluoroethylenes, hydrofluoropropenes, hydrofluorobutenes, hydrofluoropentenes and combinations of these, (2) one or more vinyl ester monomer(s), and (3) one or more vinyl ether monomer(s), wherein at least a portion of said vinyl ether monomer is a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether monomer, wherein the copolymer preferably has a number average molecular weight of greater than about 10,000; (ii) providing a VOC containing carrier for said one or more fluorocopolymers; and (iii) providing a stabilizing agent comprising: a) a radical scavenger and b) an absorber of UV light; and (iv) combining said one or more fluorocopolymers with said carrier and said stabilizing agent to produce a polymeric coating composition.

FLUORINE-CONTAINING POLYMER, COATING COMPOSITION, METHOD FOR PRODUCING COATED ARTICLE, AND COATED ARTICLE

A fluorine-containing polymer having repeating units derived from (a) a fluorine-containing monomer, (b) a fluorine-free non-crosslinkable monomer, and (c) a fluorine-free crosslinkable monomer. The fluorine-containing monomer (a) is a compound represented by formula: CH.sub.2═C(-X)—C(═O)—Y—Z—Rf . . . (a-I), wherein X is a hydrogen atom, a monovalent organic group or a halogen atom, Y is —O— or —NH—, Z is a direct bond or a divalent organic group, and Rf is a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms. The fluorine-free non-crosslinkable monomer (b) includes (b1) a cyclic hydrocarbon group-containing monomer and (b2) a low Tg monomer, a homopolymer of which has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of lower than 0° C. Also disclosed is a coating composition including the fluorine-containing polymer and a liquid medium, a method for producing a coated article which includes coating an article with the coating composition and a coated article.
