Block copolymers and self-assembling nanoparticles formed therefrom

The subject matter of this invention relates to block copolymers (BCPs) and, more particularly, to block copolymers capable of self-assembly into nanoparticles for the delivery of hydrophobic cargos. The BCPs include a hydrophobic block that contains a thioether functional group that is susceptible to oxidation, transforming the solubility of the block from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, thereby releasing the hydrophobic cargo of the nanoparticle.

A porous catalyst for catalytic activating persulfates to decompose typical pollutants in papermaking wastewater is provided, and a synthesis method thereof and a method of degrading the typical pollutants in paper wastewater by using the porous catalyst are also provided. The porous catalyst MIL-88A@MIP is prepared by a molecular imprinting method comprising using metal organic framework MIL-88A as a precursor and using phthalates as templates.

Supramolecular biodegradable polymer
10358522 · 2019-07-23 · ·

The present invention relates to a supramolecular biodegradable polymer comprising a quadruple hydrogen bonding unit (abbreviated herein as 4H-unit), a biodegradable backbone and hard blocks and a process for preparing such a supramolecular biodegradable polymer. The supramolecular polymer is specifically suitable for biodegradable articles such as biomedical implants that need high strength and/or elasticity, e.g. medical implants in the cardio-vascular field.

Block copolymers and uses thereof

Block copolymers containing charged blocks or chemical moieties sensitive to oxidation or hydrolysis have been developed. We describe the use of such block copolymers in supramolecular structures, e.g., micelles or vesicles, and pharmaceutical compositions and in methods of preparing the supramolecular structures and pharmaceutical compositions. The invention is particularly useful for the delivery of pharmaceutical agents, e.g., nucleic acids, to cells.

Stimulus-responsive supramolecular glasses

Supramolecular polymers or materials that exhibit high stiffness and can efficiently be healed. The supramolecular materials polymer is based on monomers having three or more same or different binding sites that permit non-covalent, directional interactions between multiple monomer molecules. The properties of the supramolecular networks formed from the monomers are governed by cross-linked architecture and the large weight-fraction of the binding motif. The material in one embodiment forms a disordered glass, which in spite of the low-molecular weight of the building block, displays typical polymeric behavior. The material exhibits high stiffness and offers excellent coating and adhesive properties. On account of reversible dissociation and the formation of a low-viscosity liquid upon application of an optical stimulus or thermal stimulus or both, rapid healing as well as (de)bonding are possible.

Lignin-containing polymers

Click reactions may be used to bond polymers to lignin by taking advantage of lignin's terminal hydroxyl and thiol groups via an alkyne-azide click reaction or a thiol-alkene or thiol-alkyne click reaction. By selecting functional polymers, these methods may be used to synthesize lignin-containing polymer materials with an array of different properties, such as self-healing polymers.
