Grafted Polymer with Soot Handling Properties
The present disclosure relates to viscosity index modifiers that have dispersant properties and lubricating oil compositions comprising said viscosity index modifiers. The disclosure also relates to the use of lubricant compositions comprising the viscosity index improvers of the disclosure for improving the soot or sludge handling characteristics of an engine lubricant composition, while minimizing the deterioration of engine seals.
TOTAL BASE NUMBER BOOSTERS FOR MARINE DIESEL ENGINE LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS
A lubricating composition includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and a low-ash additive system including a low molecular weight amine with a Total Base Number of at least 150, and an N-substituted hydrocarbyl-substituted succinimide dispersant. The low-ash additive system provides the lubricating composition with a significant boost in TBN without substantially lowering the flashpoint. The composition is particularly suited to use as a marine diesel engine lubricant.
CORROSION INHIBITORS FOR FUELS AND LUBRICANTS
The present invention relates to novel uses of corrosion inhibitors in fuels and lubricants.
Anti-degradation and self-healing lubricating oil
A lubricating oil comprises a base oil; and an anti-degradation additive comprising microcapsules, nanocapsules, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing; the microcapsules and the nanocapsules each independently having a core of a neutralizing material and a polymeric encapsulant configured to release the neutralizing material in an acidic environment by breaking crosslinks or hydrogen bonds in the polymeric encapsulant. The released neutralizing material can prevent the formation of viscous, high molecular weight molecules thus enhancing the lifetime of the lubricating oil and improving its reliability.
Motorcycle engine lubricant
The present invention relates to lubricant compositions for motorcycle engines where the crankcase lubricant is also used to lubricate a wet clutch. The lubricant compositions contain antimony dithiocarbamates in combination with one or more ash-free friction modifiers.
METHOD FOR SEPARATE LUBRICATION OF A DRIVE SYSTEM FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
The present application concerns a method for separate lubrication of a drive system for a motor vehicle, the system including a compressor and an internal combustion engine including a top end and a bottom end that are coupled together, the method including: lubricating the bottom end with a lubricating composition CL1 having an SAE J300 grade defined by the formula (X)W(Y) in which X represents 0 or 5 and Y represents 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20; lubricating the top end with a lubricating composition CL2 different from the lubricating composition CL1; and lubricating the compressor with a lubricating composition CL2 or with a lubricating composition CL3 different from the lubricating compositions CL1 and CL2.
LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS FOR PREVENTING OR REDUCING ABNORMAL COMBUSTION IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ENGINE
Disclosed is a method for preventing and/or reducing abnormal combustion of fuel in a motor vehicle engine that includes the use of a lubricating composition including at least one base oil and at least one fatty amine.
DRY LUBRICANT FOR CONVEYING CONTAINERS
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.
Lubricant for use in electric and hybrid vehicles and methods of using the same
A lubricant formulation for an electric or hybrid vehicle includes a base oil, or a blend thereof, one or more additives, and a molybdenum amine complex, such as diisotridecylamine molybdate, are provided. Lubricant formulations can be characterized by one of: improving electric motor protection when a voltage is applied to an electrode in the presence of a formulation comprising the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive as compared to a fluid lacking the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive; maintaining the electrical resistance slope of a formulation comprising the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive as compared to a fluid lacking the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive; the formulation forming a protective film on copper surfaces; a change in color of the formulation indicating contact load, temperature, time, or viscosity change.
