System for the formation of fibrin foam
11629323 · 2023-04-18 · ·

A device and method for forming fibrin foam, preferably utilizing a single container, comprising a base structured to be rotationally driven and including a separation chamber disposed and structured to receive a blood sample therein. The base includes a reaction chamber disposed in fluid communication with said separation chamber. The blood sample is separated into a plasma segment and a packed cell segment when subjected to sufficient centrifugation concurrent to the driven rotation of the base. According to structural features, and in some instances concurrent and continuous centrifugation, the plasma segment is directed from said separation chamber into said reaction chamber which includes sufficient quantities of gas and reactant composition to facilitate formation of fibrin foam therein concurrent to centrifugation. Further centrifugation of the fibrin foam and the inclusion of additional features such as a pressurized reaction chamber facilitate the formation of fibrin foam exhibiting varying chemical and/or physical properties.

BIOREACTOR WITH SCAFFOLDS

A bioreactor includes a reservoir container for holding a liquid medium, a duct providing a flowpath in a generally vertical direction upward from the reservoir container, a plurality of fiber assemblies located within the duct, a top of which is higher than a top of the plurality of fiber assemblies, and a circulation system. The upper end of the duct comprises an overflow wall surrounded by a moat, a bottom of which is lower than a top of the overflow wall. The upper end of the duct and moat contact a pocket region that is bounded by a structure that is connected to the duct and that is isolated from fluid communication with an exterior of the pocket region. The liquid medium flows over the overflow wall within the pocket region, contacts gas in the pocket region, overflows into the moat and is removed therefrom by the circulation system.

AGENT INTERACTION EFFECTS DETERMINATION

A cell population (55) is cultured on a cell culture substrate (50) while agents contained in agent reservoirs (31, 33, 35) at predefined positions in a culture container (10) diffuse through the substrate (50) and form at least partly overlapping concentration gradients in the substrate (50) within combination areas (41, 43, 45) and substantially non-overlapping concentration gradients in the substrate (50) peripheral to an outer boundary of the agent reservoirs (31, 33, 35). Inhibition end points (61, 63, 65) of respective inhibition zones (60, 62, 64) substantially lacking any growth of the cell population (55) peripheral to the outer boundary of the agent reservoirs (31, 33, 35) and growth end points (71, 73, 75) of respective growth zones (70, 72, 74) comprising growth of the cell population (55) within the combination areas (41, 43, 45) are determined and used to determine interaction effects between the agents on the cell population (55).

FLUID DELIVERY CONSUMABLE FOR DELIVERING A FLUID TO A BIOREACTOR

The present disclosure provides a fluid delivery consumable for delivering a fluid dose to a bioreactor. The fluid delivery consumable comprising a vial for holding the fluid dose, the vial having an outlet and an open end opposite to the outlet, a plunger engaged with the open end and operable to urge the fluid dose toward the outlet, and a connector proximal to the outlet, the connector being attachable to the bioreactor and adapted to move the fluid dose from the vial to the bioreactor based on operation of the plunger.

PHOTOBIOREACTOR, IN PARTICULAR FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MICRO-ORGANISMS SUCH AS MICROALGAE
20220315874 · 2022-10-06 ·

A photobioreactor is particularly suited for producing micro-organisms such as microalgae. The photobioreactor is a closed reactor with reactor vessels which have an open top that is closed by a top wall of the photobioreactor and in which a nutrient medium can be held. At least some of the reactor vessels are individual vessels. Adjacent reactor vessels form a gap between a front wall and a rear wall, the gap being closed at the top side by an overflow wall region and having a vessel overflow opening between the adjacent reactor vessels. A lighting element is held in the gap. Each of the reactor vessels has a partition which divides the reactor vessel into a front reactor chamber and a rear reactor chamber. At least one partition through-flow opening between the front and rear reactor chambers is formed in the partition close to the bottom wall.
