Culture systems and methods of using same. The systems include a housing defining an inner space. The inner space includes a headspace and at least a portion of a reservoir. A surface for immobilizing cells is moveable between the headspace and the reservoir. The systems can be used for coculturing methanotrophs and phototrophs for processing biogas and wastewater, particularly from anaerobic digesters.

Enhanced biosorption of wastewater organics using dissolved air flotation with solids recycle

Systems and methods for treating wastewater including a dissolved air flotation operation performed upon a portion of a mixed liquor output from a contact tank prior to the mixed liquor entering a biological treatment tank.

Method and apparatus for wastewater treatment using gravimetric selection

A method and a system for selecting and retaining solids with superior settling characteristics, the method comprising feeding wastewater to an input of a processor that carries out a treatment process on the wastewater, outputting processed wastewater at an output of the processor, feeding the processed wastewater to an input of a gravimetric selector that selects solids with superior settling characteristics, and outputting a recycle stream at a first output of the gravimetric selector back to the processor.

SLIGHTLY HEAVY PARTICLE SYSTEM FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT

The present disclosure discloses a slightly heavy particle system for wastewater treatment, comprising a contactor. Said contactor includes a gas-liquid-solid three-phase region, and said gas-liquid-solid three-phase region includes gas phase, liquid phase, and solid phase. Said liquid phase is the continuous phase and said solid phase is slightly heavy particles. Said slightly heavy particles are able to carry some microorganisms on their surfaces at least, and the density of said slightly heavy particles is higher than the density of said liquid. The slightly heavy particle system of the present disclosure applied in wastewater treatment can increase the concentration of microorganisms significantly, improve the ability to bear impact load, produce less sludge, and without sludge expansion. Meanwhile, the means to suspend slightly heavy particles with the combined effect of gas and liquid is able to reduce energy consumption to a larger extent. Therefore, this system features with high efficiency and low energy consumption.

Method for treating reducible compound residues using iron-containing bioreactor

An iron containing bioreactor for treating explosive compounds and other organics in contaminated surface water is disclosed. The bioreactor can be located either on-ground or in-ground at a location across which contaminated surface water flows. In one configuration the reactor is made up of (i) indigenous microbes, (ii) acetate, (iii) a low density iron-containing bed, and contains anaerobic zones in at least one portion of the flowpath. The reactor reduces the concentration of explosive compounds to below 10 ppb and also maintains this explosive compound reduction level for a period of at least one year without replenishing the microbes or iron.

Method and system for anaerobic treatment of organically loaded wastewater

In a method of anaerobic treatment of an organic waste stream (1), a stream originating from an anaerobic reactor (5) is fed to a first separating unit (33) to be separated into a sludge fraction (7) containing between 50% and 80% of the solids by weight and a second fraction (7). The second fraction (7) is fed from the first separating unit (33) into a Dissolved Gas Floatation (DGF) unit (16). The sludge fractions (7) and (9) from the separator units (33) and (16) are fed back to an inlet 41 of the reactor 5.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS

The instant disclosure is directed towards methods of treating wastewater and related systems, where the system includes: a first zone comprising at least one anaerobic tank, and a second zone comprising at least one engineered wetland. In some embodiments, the system includes a third zone comprising at least one bauxite residue cell.
