Broom with replaceable brush cartridge
10188202 · 2019-01-29 · ·

A broom with a replaceable brush cartridge is disclosed where the broom bristles can be replaced when worn. A brush cartridge is releasably retained by a broom head, and can be easily removed when needed. A replacement brush cartridge slides onto the broom head with a groove and track arrangement, and is locked into place with a wedge affixed to a live hinge on the brush cartridge that interacts with a wedge retainer on the broom head. A release tab moves the wedge away from the wedge retainer to unlock the brush cartridge from the broom head, allowing it to slide freely away. A new brush cartridge is then slid onto the track of the broom head, with the wedge and wedge retainer releasably engaging and locking the new brush cartridge to the broom head. The broom can be used as a pole broom or as a hand broom with a quick release retention button serving to release and reattach the pole as needed.

An articulating stand for brooms and similarly handled implements, the stand includes first and second clipping portions. The first clipping portion and second clipping portion hold an elongated handle of the implement under tension sufficient to prevent the handle from sliding. The first clipping portion is angled relative to the second clipping portion, such that it releases the handle when the second clipping portion engages the handle and vice versa. A panel for engaging a standing surface on which the articulating stand and an implement rests is provided below the second clipping portion and includes a wide bottom edge with opposing ends, forming a tripod with the implement. The panel is in substantially linear arrangement with the second clip, such that the panel is adjacent the handle with the second clipping portion engaging the handle, and not adjacent the handle when the first clipping portion engages the handle.

A device and tool include a fitting and a coupler for joining a handle and an end effector such as a broom or mop so that the handle cannot twist with respect to the end effector. The first end of the fitting attaches to the handle. The first end of the coupler threads to the second end of the fitting, and its second end threads to the end effector. Both the fitting and coupler have diametrical passages. A stopper on the coupler will seat in a ramp in the fitting when the coupler and fitting are fully threaded together and the stopper reaches the end wall of the ramp so the user knows the coupler and fitting are aligned. A clip holds the diametrical passages of the fitting and coupler in alignment to prevent twisting.
