POLYMERIC VISCOSITY MODIFIERS FOR USE IN LUBRICANTS
A lubricating oil composition having greater than 50 wt % of a base oil and 0.1 wt % to 20 wt %, both based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition, of a dispersant viscosity modifier obtainable by: A) reacting: a) at least one of a lactone of formula (I) or a derivative thereof:
##STR00001##
wherein X is oxygen, and R is an optionally substituted hydrocarbylene group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and b) at least one compound selected from amines, alcohols and oxazolines; and B) reacting the reaction product of step A) onto an acylated olefin copolymer obtainable by acylating a copolymer of ethylene and one or more C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefins having a number average molecular weight of 5,000 to 200,000 g/mol as measured by GPC, with an acylating agent. Methods employing the lubricating oil compositions and uses of the lubricating compositions as engine oils are also described.
Organic Lubricant
An organic lubricant composition comprising a vegetable oil; an organic acid; and an organic alcohol, where the organic lubricant composition is substantially free of inorganic compounds.
WATER BASED FOOD GRADE HYDRAULIC FLUID
A food grade lubricant composition particularly useful for hydraulic oils, gear oils, and compressor oils for equipment used in the food processing and packaging industry having a composition: (a) propylene glycol; (b) water (preferably deionized), (c) high ethyl PAG polymer; (d) capric acid; (e) potassium hydroxide; and, (f) amine phosphate and a method of formulating the composition. In addition a method of lubricating surfaces of the machinery used for processing or packaging food, food packaging materials, or other materials related to the food processing industry including the step of applying the formulation composition to the surfaces of the food processing or packaging machinery.
Solid lubricant and method of making the same
A solid-state lubricant composition is disclosed. The solid-lubricant contains graphene, an oxide of a metal, and one or more polymeric binders. A method of making a solid-state lubricant coating on various substrates is disclosed. The method includes the steps of making a homogeneous slurry comprising powder of an oxide of a metal, graphene, and a polymeric binder with organic volatile solvent; coating a substrate with the homogeneous slurry with desired thicknesses; and drying the slurry on the substrate naturally or applying additional heat, resulting in a solid lubricant coating on the substrate. Substrates with coated solid composite lubricant show wear reduction and lower coefficient of friction compared with uncoated substrates.
Lubricant composition and use as a lubricant additive of guanidinium-based ionic liquids
Use of a guanidinium-based ionic liquid as detergent in a lubricant composition, notably for lubricating marine engines. A lubricant composition including a guanidinium-based ionic liquid.
Lubricant composition and use as a lubricant additive of guanidinium-based ionic liquids
Use of a guanidinium-based ionic liquid as detergent in a lubricant composition, notably for lubricating marine engines. A lubricant composition including a guanidinium-based ionic liquid.
Stabilized medium chain triglyceride-based household lubricant and protective coating
Household lubricant compositions containing medium chain triglycerides are non-toxic and biodegradable. The lubricant compositions are made using vegetable oil components and stabilized using alcohol, an antioxidant, and a metal chelator. The lubricant compositions offer safe and environmentally friendly alternatives to petroleum-based lubricants, yet have similar lubricity and are more stable than naturally sourced vegetable oils. The compositions also can be used to clean and coat surfaces, including food preparation surfaces, and to prevent corrosion. Still further uses include sterilization and sanitation of surfaces and as a skin conditioner and lubricant.
Composition for cleaning combustion engine systems
A composition for cleaning a combustion engine system. The composition comprises a hydrocarbon. The hydrocarbon comprises respective first and second hydrocarbons. The first hydrocarbon comprises a lubricant, wherein the lubricant has a flash point, measured according to ASTM D93, of less than 80 C. The second hydrocarbon comprises an aromatic hydrocarbon, wherein the aromatic hydrocarbon has a flash point, measured according to ASTM D93, of greater than 62 C. The composition further comprises an oxygen donor. The oxygen donor comprises respective first and second oxygen donors. The first oxygen donor comprises a hydroxyl group and has a flash point, measured according to ASTM D93, of from 45 C. to 95 C. The second oxygen donor comprises a carbonyl group or an ether group and has a flash point, measured according to ASTM D93, of from 50 C. to 120 C.
LUBRICANT ADDITIVES, LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS, AND APPLICATIONS OF SAME
A lubricant composition includes a base lubricant and a plurality of lubricant additive molecules. Each molecule includes a surface active group attractable to a target surface, wherein the surface active group comprises a carboxyl group, a siloxyl group, an amine group, or a mixture thereof, and a carbon containing component connected to the surface active group, wherein the carbon containing component comprises a carbon ring, wherein the surface active group and the carbon containing component are adapted such that the carbon film is formed in situ on the target surface of the target machine only when tribological energy activates the lubricant additive to unravel the carbon containing component under a pressure and a temperature during operation.
