Corrosion inhibitors for fuels and lubricants
The present invention relates to novel uses of corrosion inhibitors in fuels and lubricants.
Additive concentrates
The use of polyalkylenyl succinic anhydrides to stabilize an additive concentrate which includes a salicylate detergent and a nitrogen-free ashless organic friction modifier.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION FOR DIESEL ENGINES
The invention provides a lubricating oil composition for diesel engines which contains a GTL base oil with a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of 4.5 to 5.5 mm2/s, a comblike PMA (polymethacrylate) based viscosity index improver and a boron-containing dispersant and/or boron-containing detergent, the total content of the boron-containing dispersant and/or boron-containing detergent in terms of conversion to boron content relative to the total amount of the composition being not less than 0.025 mass %, and which satisfies 0W-30 or 5W-30 in the SAE J300 standard.

Marine diesel lubricating composition
The invention provides a method of lubricating a 2-stroke marine diesel cylinder liner with a lubricating composition having a total base number of 10 to 25 mg KOH/g. The invention further provides a lubricating composition for lubricating the 2-stroke marine diesel cylinder liner.
Zinc-free lubricating composition
The invention is directed to a zinc-free lubricating composition for an internal combustion engine containing a phosphorus anti-wear agent, an ashless antioxidant, and an oxyalkylated phenol compound. The lubricating composition provides wear protection, deposit control, and improved acid control with reduced levels of metal-containing additives.
Lubricating Oil Composition
The present disclosure provides a lubricating oil composition which has a viscosity much lower than that of a conventional lubricating oil composition, and which is excellent in metal fatigue life, wear resistance and electrical insulating properties. The lubricating oil composition according to the present disclosure comprises: (A) a lubricating base oil; and (B) from 0.6 to 4.0% by weight, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition, of a polydiene having a number average molecular weight of from 500 to 3,000 and containing a functional group on at least one end thereof. The above described lubricating oil composition does not comprise a viscosity index improver, and has a kinematic viscosity at 100 C. of not less than 1 and less than 5 mm.sup.2/s.
Thiadiazole components, compositions, and methods
Provided herein are compositions that include a thiadiazole component and a solubility enhancing component. The solubility enhancing component can include a dispersant, a detergent, or both a dispersant and a detergent. The thiadiazole component can include one or more species having a hydrocarbyl-disulfanyl moiety. The compositions may be used as a corrosion inhibitor. Also provided herein are methods for making a thiadiazole component and a composition.
Lubricant composition and use
The present invention provides a lubricant composition which can be washed off cold and the use thereof for application to a metal strip as anti-corrosion, wash and/or forming lubricant. The composition is 50 to 90 wt % base fluid, 3 to 15 wt % sulfonate-based corrosion inhibitor, 1 to 20 wt % ester component, 0.5 to 3 wt % phosphorus source component or 1 to 10 wt % sulfur source component as high-pressure/anti-wear additive, 1 to 15 wt % emulsifier, 0.05 to 1 wt % carboxylic acid component, 0.05 to 1 wt % aminic and/or phenolic antioxidant, 0.5 to 5 wt % wax and/or thickener component, based in each case on the total weight of the composition. Further disclosed is a dry lubricant composition which can be washed off cold.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITIONS WITH ENGINE CORROSION PROTECTION
A method for improving corrosion resistance, while maintaining or improving fuel efficiency, in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one friction modifier having an elemental composition comprising one or more of nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), and phosphorus (P), as a minor component. The formulated oil has a corrosion factor, based on the elemental composition of the at least one friction modifier, of less than 500, as determined by the formula:
12900(N wt %)+3967(O wt %)8524(P wt %)250=corrosion factor.
The lubricating oils are useful as passenger vehicle engine oils (PVEO) and commercial vehicle engine oils (CVEO).
