MIXED SUGAR COMPOSITIONS

Novel mixtures of sugar amides or sugar amines are disclosed that have improved thermal properties over the individual components. New feedstocks based on both the surfactant tail as well as the sugar head group allow for improved physical properties of sugar amide surfactant mixtures and thus improved formulatability. Furthermore, new sources of unique methyl esters from both bioengineering and or co-metathesis of fats and oils provide novel and improved sugar amide surfactant mixtures.

Composition

The present invention relates a composition capable of enhancing cleaning properties of a soil during cleaning by treating an object. The composition is a composition containing a modified hydroxyalkyl cellulose and at least one selected from an anionic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant, the modified hydroxyalkyl cellulose being one in which a cationic group and a hydrophobic group represented by the formula (1) are bound to a group resulting from eliminating a hydrogen atom from a hydroxy group of a hydroxyalkyl cellulose.
*—Z—R.sup.1  (1)
wherein, Z represents a single bond or a hydrocarbon group having an oxygen atom; R.sup.1 represents a hydrocarbon group having 2 or more carbon atoms; and * represents a binding position to a group resulting from eliminating a hydrogen atom from a hydroxy group of a hydroxyalkyl cellulose.

Particularly preferred is the use of the cationic surfactant of formula (2) designated as LAE®, which is the ethyl ester of the lauramide of the arginine monohydrochloride.

MOLDABLE COMPOSITION FOR SOLID WASHING AGENT AND METHOD FOR MOLDING THE SAME

The present disclosure is directed to providing a moldable solid washing agent composition and an article molded from the same. The composition of the present disclosure can be stored easily at room temperature for a long time. It is applicable to a system that can be manufactured on site and can satisfy customer needs because it can be molded immediately by a simple method and the shape, size, etc. can be controlled. In addition, the solid washing agent composition disclosed in the present specification has superior compatibility with water.

Bio-based Surfactants

Bio-based surfactants have great opportunity for use in a variety of applications such as laundry detergents, industrial cleaners, adjuvants, and oil & gas. Surfactants in these applications can be nonionic, anionic, cationic, or amphoteric. Utilizing high oleic soybean oil as a platform chemical, a variety of surfactants and properties can be produced. While early work focused solely on surfactant use in laundry cleaning and fracking, recent work has expanded functional groups and application evaluations in hard surface cleaning.

The current invention expands on Battelle's high oleic soybean oil (HOSO) surfactant technology. Use of HOSO overcomes the limitations of regular soybean oil and significantly reduces or eliminates undesirable byproducts in most chemistries. However, with use of select reagents, a few candidates were achievable with regular epoxidized soybean oil (ESO). The HOSO surfactant platform offers several key advantages including: a highly water miscible (not typical of C18 surfactants) and water stable surfactant; ability to adjust and vary hydrophilic-lipophilic (HLB) values for stain removal performance; and increased biodegradability without toxic or persistent by-products.
