Spore-containing probiotic compositions and methods
A method for preparing a shelf stable spore-containing probiotic alimentary additive is disclosed, the method including providing a liquid slurry including spores from at least one spore-forming probiotic bacterial strain, a saccharide, and a humectant; and pasteurizing the liquid slurry to yield the alimentary additive. The alimentary additive may have a water activity (Aw) of less than about 0.7. The alimentary additive may have a pH from about 2.0 to 9.5. A plurality of the spores may remain in an un-germinated state and uniformly suspended for at least two months after the pasteurizing to yield a shelf stable spore-containing probiotic alimentary additive.
Insect inhibitory proteins
Pesticidal proteins exhibiting toxic activity against Lepidopteran pest species are disclosed, and include, but are not limited to, TIC13085 and TIC13087. DNA constructs are provided which contain a recombinant nucleic acid sequence encoding one or more of the disclosed pesticidal proteins. Transgenic plants, plant cells, seed, and plant parts resistant to Lepidopteran infestation are provided which contain recombinant nucleic acid sequences encoding the pesticidal proteins of the present invention. Methods for detecting the presence of the recombinant nucleic acid sequences or the proteins of the present invention in a biological sample, and methods of controlling Lepidopteran species pests using any of the TIC13085 and TIC13087 pesticidal proteins are also provided.
BACILLUS VELEZENSIS, CULTURE METHOD THEREFOR AND APPLICATION THEREOF
It relates to Bacillus velezensis, a culture method and use thereof; Bacillus velezensis TA-3-BV serving as an endogenous antagonistic strain of sweet cherry for the first time, and a nucleotide sequence of 16S rDNA of the Bacillus velezensis TA-3-BV is shown as SEQ ID NO. 1. The Bacillus velezensis TA-3-BV has board-spectrum antibacterial activity for sweet cherry, has an inhibitory effect on a variety of pathogenic fungi, and especially has an excellent inhibitory effect on Rhizopus stolonifer serving as a soft rot pathogen of sweet cherry, with an inhibition rate of 69.82±1.43%; in addition, the Bacillus velezensis TA-3-BV has a good inhibitory effect on the postharvest rot of sweet cherry fruits, can slow down the rot process of fruits, can delay the rot of fruits by 2-3 d, thereby providing a novel method for postharvest preservation of sweet cherry.
METHODS OF CULTURING PROBIOTIC BACILLI
A method of culturing bacteria of the Bacilli class is disclosed. The method comprises: (a) adding the bacteria to a medium comprising pasteurized starch fibers of a legume of a leguminous plant, and (b) culturing the bacteria under conditions that promote generation of a biofilm of the bacteria on the starch fibers.
Bacillus sp. strain with improved productivity of fermented soybean meal and method for producing fermented soybean meal using the same
The present invention relates to a Bacillus amyloliquefaciens K2G strain, which is excellent in removal of anti-nutritional factors and in protease activity, and shows excellent antimicrobial activity against pathogens and reduced productivity of viscous substances, a method for producing a fermented soybean meal using the strain, a fermented soybean meal produced therefrom, and a feed composition including the same. The fermented soybean meal prepared by Bacillus amyloliquefaciens K2G strain according to the present invention has few anti-nutritional factors such as trypsin inhibitors, soybean oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides, a high content of crude proteins, and high protein solubility, and also consists of small-sized peptides digestible by livestock due to low-molecularization, thereby being effectively used as a high-quality vegetable protein feed having excellent absorption rate and feed efficiency.
Method for eliciting plant immune responses by seed priming of heat-treated Bacillus culture solution
The present invention relates to a method of eliciting plant immune responses based on seed priming by using the heat (high temperature)-treated culture solution of Bacillus spp, and the high pressure-sterilized culture solution of Bacillus sp. strains PB69 and 1628 which have been selected in the present invention exhibits an activity of eliciting induced systemic resistance similar to BTH, and also has an effect for inducing promoted plant growth and controlling plant diseases, and thus it is expected to contribute to enhance the crop productivity.
Nutrient Rich Germinant Composition and Spore Incubation Method
A nutrient-germinant composition to aid in spore germination and a method for increased spore germination efficiency. The composition comprises L-amino acids, D-glucose and/or D-fructose, a phosphate buffer, an industrial preservative, and may include bacteria spores or they may be separately combined for germination. The method comprises providing a nutrient-germinant composition and bacteria spores, preferably of one or more Bacillus species, and heating to a preferred elevated temperature range of 41° C. to 44° C. for an incubation period of around 2 to 60 minutes. The nutrient-germinant composition is preferably in a concentrated liquid form that is diluted just prior to initiating the germination/incubation method at the point of use. The method may also include dispensing a germinated spore solution to a point-of-use/consumption, such as animal feed, water, or bedding, or a wastewater system or drain.
Bacillus Strains with Fast Germination and Antimicrobial Activity against Clostridium
The present invention relates to compositions such as an animal feed comprising one or more bacteria with fast germination and with anti-Clostridium perfringens effect.
