Floor mats comprising two layers bonded together with an undulating boundary between them. The surface color and/or surface texture of the first layer being different from the surface color and/or surface texture of the second layer. The mats having an interlocking periphery boundary adapted so the mats can be interlocked with adjoining mats to form a continuous planar mat flooring.

Portable, foldable mats for construction sites, in particular for loaded drywall carts to roll thereover when unfolded, have an elongate body defining a plurality of panels foldable upon one another beginning from a first end toward a second end onto itself repeatedly until any tertiary panels are contained between an initial panel and an immediately neighboring second panel of the initial panel. Each panel has a sheet of material therein that has a load rating of at least 1000 pounds. The mats have a first handle extending from the initial panel and a second handle extending from the immediately neighboring second panel at a position to align with the first handle when the mat is in a fully folded state.

A two layer foam mat is described. The raw materials for each layer are separately mixed and heated in different batches, and separately pressed through heated rollers to form a plurality of sheets. One or more sheets from each batch are stacked together in a press and heated above a foaming temperature to permit the stacked sheets to foam and expand. The press restricts the sheets from vertical expansion while allowing horizontal expansion. Once the sheets are foamed, a series of alternating teeth and receiving slots can be cut around the boundary of the mat to form an interlocking peripheral wall. The layers preferably have the same chemical composition after foaming, even though the layers are formed from different batches and may have different colors and/or textures.

A fastening device to releasably interconnect ground protection mats or panels. The fastening device comprises a first male part and a second female part. Each male and female part comprise a respective helical rib having features configured to interlock so as to provide frictional resistance to axial separation so as to interconnect ground protection mats to form a unitary ground covering system.

A floor protection assembly for protecting a floor in the bathroom from urine includes a mat that may be positioned on a floor thereby facilitating the mat to be aligned with a urinal. In this way the mat absorbs urine spilled from users of the urinal. The mat has deodorizing properties to reduce odors from the urine. An adhesive layer is coupled to the mat to adhesively engage the floor thereby retaining the mat in a selected position on the floor.

A two part floor covering useful for entranceway is provided having a mat overlaying a base. A fastening system incorporating a mushroom-type fastener is provided, whereby the mat can be laid on the base and positioned as desired, without the fastening system engaging. When the mat is aligned with the base, downward pressure on the mat engages the fastening system and restricts the mat from slipping laterally or lifting vertically. Alignment and deployment of the textile component with the base component in an efficient manner is also described herein.

Reversible floor mats having two layers bonded together at an undulating surface are described. Each layer has a generally non-constant across over its width and length. The combined thickness of the two layers is generally constant over its width and length. The layers have different colors and/or different surface textures to provide different working surfaces.

A chair mat has a top that is a rug or carpet so that the chair mat has the appearance of an area rug. A woven or knitted rug is attached to a mesh material that can carry the loads that are applied to the rug top to hold the rug top from stretching or bunching when casters of a wheeled chair move over the rug top. The chair mat has a rigid layer to which a woven or knitted rug is attached to provide a hard underlying surface over when the wheeled chair may more easily move. The chair mat may be hinged to permit the chair mat to be folded to a smaller configuration where it is more readily stored or transported.

A protective device that can be used to protect kitchen flooring from being damaged consists of a base section, a backsplash section, and a sidesplash section. The food preparation equipment, such as a deep fryer or pressure fryer, is placed on the base section. The backsplash and the sidesplash are used to attach the device to a wall adjacent to the food preparation area. A tapered portion of the base section allows food preparation equipment to be conveniently placed on the base section and rolled away from the base section when needed. The ability to move the food preparation equipment is beneficial to clean the floor area in which the food preparation equipment is used in and protect the floor area.

A disposable protective shield system enables the prevention of escaped fluids from a toilet from reaching the floor around a toilet. A mat is placed in front and covers the side areas as well. The mat allows the fluids pass through a permeable layer where they are sequestered by an absorbent layer and prevent from exit by a non-permeable layer. The mat could have varying fluid capacity in the absorbent layer, folding flaps to extent the area protected by the mat. Wall shields are attached to the walls around the toilet to protect them from escaping fluids.
