The baler communicates compressed material from a vertically inclined compression passage formed in between opposing conveyer belts to a central area of a baling chamber for baling. A plunger within the baling chamber can reciprocate in two directions to form bales which are tied and discharged from both ends of the baling chamber.

An enveloping device for enveloping a bale with an enveloping material for a baler includes a supply of the enveloping material. The supply is configured to feed the enveloping material to a pressing chamber of the baler through a feed gap. A braking device is provided for the enveloping material. The braking device is configured such that it has an effect that the enveloping material assumes an at least substantially predetermined position with respect to the pressing chamber of the baler to at least one working means of the baler or to the bale at either an end or a start of an enveloping operation.

The first roller (221) is pivotable about a first pivot (223) defining a first pivot axis (FPA) that is coaxial with an axis of rotation (SAR) of the second roller (222) when the second roller (222) is at a position closest to the pickup drum (210) such that the relative position of the first roller (221) is adjustable without adjusting the relative position of the second roller (222) when the second roller (222) is at the position closest to the pickup drum (210).
