A container, such as a pot, strip or tray, comprising at least one accommodation for at least one specimen from a group, comprising: plants; seeds; seedlings; cuttings and the like, where the accommodation is configured to be filled with a substrate and the container exhibits at least a side wall, a bottom and a top surface to accommodate the substrate and the specimen in the substrate, of which at least a portion of the top surface is open to enable growth of the specimen there through in a longitudinal direction. The side wall includes a completely open passage which is dimensioned for inserting or extracting a block of substrate with essentially a full size of an interior of the accommodation into or from the interior through the passage in a sideways direction relative to the longitudinal direction, where at least the side wall includes a cutting edge alongside the passage.

Grooved stackable panel for floating cultivation of plants

Panel for floating cultivation of plants on water, including parallel grooves at a top side extending longitudinally, adapted for receiving a substrate and a number of plants or precursors in the substrate, each groove extending through the panel from a first top plane to a second parallel plane. The panel includes air chambers at a lower side extending substantially below the second plane, each of the air chambers allowing therein formation of air roots of plants supported in the substrate of the grooves. At the second plane, each groove is spaced apart from the circumferential side wall of the air chamber it debouches in when projected onto a plane normal to the longitudinal direction, each of the grooves including at least two side support surfaces extending parallel to the groove and below the top side, the side support surfaces adapted for substantially completely supporting the substrate in the groove.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A STABILIZED GROWING MEDIUM FOR CULTIVATION OF A PLANT OR SEEDLING
20170339843 · 2017-11-30 ·

The invention relates to a method for producing a stabilized growing medium for cultivation of a plant or seedling. The method comprises the steps of providing a receiving unit for containing the rooting plug to be formed and placing a root structure of a plant or seedling in the receiving unit. Further, the method includes the steps of filling the receiving unit with slurry material forming a stabilized growing medium and curing the slurry material in the receiving unit while holding the root structure of the plant or seedling in the receiving unit.

Horticultural pot and tray filling apparatus

A horticultural container filling apparatus has a hopper to selectively dispense soil through an exit. A two-tier strip conveyor assembly has a plurality of narrow conveyor belts coupled to a motor for translating the narrow conveyor belts in a first direction along a first plane below the exit of the hopper. The narrow conveyor belts spaced apart, defining one or more gaps. A plurality of support rails support and guide the narrow conveyor belts along the first plane and are configured to support and convey a container on the narrow conveyor belts in the first direction. The container receives a portion of the soil dispensed from the exit of the hopper, and the gaps pass a remaining portion of soil not received by the container to a second plane below the first plane. A catch conveyor belt along the second plane receives and translates the remaining portion of soil in a second direction along the second plane. A return conveyor assembly has one or more inclined conveyor belts for receiving the remaining portion of the soil from the catch conveyor belt returns the remaining portion to the hopper. The inclined conveyor belts are substantially flat belts, and an incline angle of the inclined conveyor belts is configured to generally prevent slippage of the remaining portion of the potting material.

LARGE PLANT BAGGING AND PLANTING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
20230276744 · 2023-09-07 ·

A large plant bagging and planting system that is comprised of a hopper surge bin, a first and second workstation. The workstations are connected at or near the center between them, and each respective workstation has a set of walls, or a circular wall, that tapers inward from a wider top opening to a smaller bottom opening, and there is at least one gate located below the walls or circular wall. There is also at least one gate located below each respective workstation. There is also at least one control arm configured to manipulate and hold a large plant into position within a grow bag while potting media that has been placed in the hopper surge bin, is released from at least one workstation via the at least one gate, in am amount appropriate to fill the grow bad to desired depth.

PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR LINE PRODUCTION OF PLANT GROWTH MEDIUM POTS OR BAGS
20210309399 · 2021-10-07 ·

A process for line production of plant growth medium pots or bags with a closed bottom end includes the steps of: i) continuously folding the free end of a continuous length of water and air permeable sheet material into a sheet material tube around and beyond a free end of a growth medium feeding tube; ii) forming a first sealing in the sheet material tube; iii) filling the sheet material tube with a measured amount of growth medium; iv) forming a second sealing in the sheet material tube; v) separating the part of the sheet material tube positioned downstream from the second sealing to form a first plant growth medium pot or bag with a closed end, repeating as needed to form a plurality of plant growth medium pots or bags.

AUTOMATED DRY GRANULAR MATERIAL DISPENSER
20210252528 · 2021-08-19 ·

An automatic dry material dispenser for dispensing dry material such as fertilizer to pots or other containers passing by on a conveyor. The device is controlled by a photo-detector or mechanical switch to dispense material when the container is in the proper position. The device consists of a material reservoir, a flexible feed hose, a pipe and elbow which can be pivoted by an electric solenoid and electronics for control. As the pipe and elbow are pivoted to a stop by the solenoid material is expelled from the elbow and down into the passing pot. The amount of material dispensed is controlled by an insert-able cylinder and by selecting the number of dispensing cycles per pot.
