Laser enrichment device, system, and method for poultry

An apparatus, systems, and methods of providing enrichment to poultry during raising or maintaining of the poultry. One or more light sources project beams to generate laser spots at and around the poultry. A control regimen moves the light spots relative the poultry in generally random fashion during timed sessions for each given time period (e.g. each day). The spot movement is designed to promote benefits to poultry and producer in correlation to experimental data related to animal welfare, health, and commercial value.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ANIMAL COMPRISING A GERMLINE GENETIC MODIFICATION

The present invention relates to methods for producing a non-human animal, such as an avian, comprising a targeted germline genetic modification, the method comprising: (i) delivering a programmable nuclease to sperm; (ii) fertilizing an ovum with the sperm, and (iii) generating the animal from the ovum, wherein the nuvlease introduces the genetic modification into DNA of the prem and/or the ovum.

A transgenic non-human animal is provided. In certain embodiments, the animal comprises a genome comprising an immunoglobulin heavy chain locus comprising: a) a transcribed gene encoding a fusion protein comprising, from N-terminus to C-terminus: i. a scaffold comprising a first binding domain; and ii. a heavy chain constant region operably linked to the scaffold; wherein the scaffold is capable of specifically binding to a target in the absence of additional polypeptides; and b) a plurality of pseudogenes that are operably linked to the transcribed gene and that donate, by gene conversion, nucleotide sequence to the part of the transcribed gene that encodes the binding domain.

Transgenic chicken comprising an inactivated immunoglobulin gene

A transgenic chicken comprising an inactivated heavy immunoglobulin gene and/or inactivated light chain immunoglobulin gene is provided, as well as cells and targeting vectors for making the same.

The present disclosure provides a promoter having at least the core components of a duck retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I) promoter, as well as expression constructs having the duck RIG-I promoter operably linked to a gene product-encoding nucleic acid (e.g., an avian RIG-I protein), and recombinant host cells containing the duck RIG-I promoter, e.g., in such expression constructs. The present disclosure also provide animals genetically modified to have a gene encoding a duck RIG-I promoter operably linked to a gene product-encoding nucleic acid (e.g., an avian RIG-I protein, such as a duck RIG-I protein).

METHOD FOR PRODUCING GENETICALLY EDITED BIRDS HAVING RESISTANCE TO AVIAN INFLUENZA VIRUSES
20220380797 · 2022-12-01 ·

Provided is a method of producing a genome-edited bird having resistance to avian influenza viruses. A method according to an aspect may enable precise inhibition of interaction between virus proteins while maintaining the original function of an ANP32A gene in a host by substituting only key amino acids of the ANP32A gene. When the method is used, by including cell lines having resistance to avian influenza viruses, new poultry and bird breeds that may not pose any biological safety issues may be efficiently developed. Thus, it is expected that the potential for industrial application is high.

Semirigid poultry and/or swine enclosure

An at least partially floorless semirigid poultry enclosure configured to flex and/or adjust to accommodate undulating terrain during movement across a field. The semirigid poultry enclosure may comprise a semirigid foundation. The semirigid foundation may include one or more flexible joints disposed between two or more rigid structural elements. The semirigid poultry enclosure may include multiple wall barriers coupled to the semirigid foundation. The semirigid poultry enclosure may include a roof barrier coupled to one or more of the multiple wall barriers and/or the semirigid foundation. Multiple wheels may be coupled to the semirigid foundation to facilitate movement of the semirigid poultry enclosure, wherein poultry within the semirigid poultry enclosure have access to the field from within the enclosure.
