An enhanced bird activity station that is more attractive to birds than conventional designs. The bird activity station is provided with a surface that is configured to horizontally polarize any light reflected by the surface. The bird activity station may be a bird feeder with a housing for containing bird food and a platform mounted to the housing. The platform forms the substrate that horizontally polarized the light reflected by the surface and is made from a transparent polymer and a layer of dark paint applied to an opposing side of the substrate from the housing. The bird activity station may also be a bird bath formed from a bowl having a layer of dark paint applied thereto so that any water placed in the bowl will cooperate with the layer of dark paint to horizontally polarize any light reflected by the surface.

A birding accessory assembly includes a birding accessory, such as a bird bath, a pole for supporting the bird bath on the ground or other surface, and a removably interlocking feature between the bottom face of the accessory and the top end of the pole. The interlocking interface can include a plurality of knobs projecting from the bottom face of the accessory and a cam plate mounted on the pole. The cam plate defines a like plurality of ramp segments to receive the knobs. With the knobs disposed within the ramp segments, the accessory is rotated so that the knobs advance toward a lower end of the ramp segments. A side opening at the end of each segment receives a boss projecting from each knob to snap or click into engagement. An array of magnets carried by the cam plate can magnetically engage a metal plate integrated into the bottom face of the accessory.

The present invention is directed to a method of treating poultry hatchlings in a hatchling tray. The method comprises of providing a soft gel form capable of being dispensed through a spray nozzle, providing a spray dispensing apparatus, the apparatus being capable of delivering a predetermined volume of the gel as a plurality of small beadlets through a plurality of nozzles, placing the hatchling tray containing the hatchlings beneath the nozzles of the dispensing apparatus, dispensing the predetermined volume of the soft gel containing the therapeutic agent as small beadlets into the hatchling tray and allowing the hatchlings to consume the beadlets. The present invention is also directed to a dispensing apparatus for dispensing a therapeutic agent in a soft gel into a hatchling tray of poultry hatchlings.

A pet fountain assembly that includes a cover with a drinking bowl formed therein that straddles a sidewall of a basin that can be user-provided enclosing a pump within a pumping chamber defined therebetween. The cover has a downwardly extending sidewall divided by openings that can be generally U-shaped or V-shaped into a plurality of supports on which the cover. In a preferred embodiment, one of the supports is disposed outboard the basin sidewall resting on the ground and another one of the supports is disposed inboard the basin sidewall resting on a bottom of the basin providing a water passage enabling water from the basin to reach the pump. The inboard support can provide an overflow spillway as well as define a shroud disposed between the pump and water in a lower drinking bowl of the basin. The basin can include an outwardly offset seat that locates the pump.

A bird mister apparatus for attracting and cooling birds includes a base plate, a housing, and a reservoir within a housing inside configured to hold liquid that can be sealed and unsealed. A spout has a spout aperture extending through to the housing inside. A pump is coupled within the housing inside and is in fluid communication with the spout aperture. An inlet tube is coupled to the pump and is in fluid communication with the pump. A CPU is coupled within the housing inside and is in operational communication with the pump. A battery is in operational communication with the CPU and the pump. A power switch is in operational communication with the CPU to activate and alternatively deactivate the pump. A hanger is coupled to the housing to support the apparatus on a tree branch, a fence, or an awning.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a bird bath. In one configuration, a frame as a plurality lighting elements therein. A stand is provided for supporting the frame. The bath may include a control component for controlling the lighting elements and a photovoltaic cell for providing power to the lighting elements. In another aspect, the frame may include a plurality of spiral frame members. In yet another aspect, the spiral members have a channel pathway and the lighting elements are disposed in the channel pathway. In yet another aspect, the frame may includes a plurality of radial members. In yet another aspect, the radial members have a channel pathway and the lighting elements are disposed in the channel pathway.

A bird station comprising a perching area, and a detachable electronic control module comprising: at least one of a camera unit and a microphone unit; a controller; and an object detection unit comprising a vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL). The VCSEL is operable to generate a source beam directed towards the perching area of the bird station. The object detection unit is arranged to detect a return beam formed by reflection of the source beam from an object when the object is located in the perching area of the bird station and, based on a detection of the return beam, determine that there is an object located in the perching area. The controller is operable to activate the one of the camera unit and the microphone unit in response to the object detection unit determining that there is an object located in the perching area of the bird station.

A modular apparatus for housing animals comprising a wall unit, a window unit, a roof unit, a skylight unit, a door unit, a bath unit, an observation unit, and a port unit, and a fastening system adapted to releasibly interlock said units to form a housing suitable for animals. The apparatus can be assembled at a first location and subsequently disassembled and reassembled at a second location. Among the animals are raptors and other avian species.
