Pest control and detection system with conductive bait matrix
A pest control and/or detection system generally includes an electrically conductive bait matrix including at least one carrier material that is at least one of palatable, a phagostimulant and/or consumable and/or displaceable by pests, and a plurality of electrically conductive particles. The electrically conductive particles are substantially randomly interspersed throughout the at least one carrier material. The at least one carrier material includes a thermoplastic material and/or a resin.
Attraction systems for pests and use thereof
The present application is directed to a system and device for attraction of pests. This system comprises CO.sub.2-releasing microorganisms, and also nutrients specific to these microorganisms, and this system, or the device, comprises one or more biodegradable biopolymers and allows CO.sub.2, and optionally other attractants, to be released over a period of more than 20 days. Furthermore, the present application provides for the use of such a system or such a device for the attraction of pests, more particularly of maize or potato pests, such as larvae of the Western corn rootworm or wire worm. The present application is also directed, lastly, to methods for attracting pests, more particularly pests of maize or potatoes, such as the larvae of the Western corn rootworm, or for wire worms, with the systems or devices of the invention being positioned in the immediate vicinity of the plants, but preferably not directly on the plants.
Compounds, compositions and methods for attracting and/or arresting bed bugs
Disclosed is a composition of volatile and less-volatile pheromone components that can be used alone or in combination with other compounds to attract and/or arrest bed bugs of both sexes and all developmental stages. This blend can be used to bait traps that are effective in capturing bed bugs in infested premises or can be combined with a pesticide that is lethal to bed bugs.
MONITORING CAMERA
A monitoring camera includes a housing having a tip end cylindrical portion in which a lens is disposed, the tip end cylindrical portion being covered with a front glass, an eave member that is provided on an upper surface of the housing and that has a tip end flange portion protruding forward from the front glass, and a repellent member that is provided at the tip end flange portion and contains a drug for repelling a pest such as a spider.
Bait materials, pest monitoring devices and other pest control devices that include polyurethane foam
A termite bait includes a plurality of cellulosic food material pieces palatable to termites embedded within a water resistant polyurethane foam matrix. Another termite bait includes a plurality of cellulosic food material pieces embedded within a water-absorbent polyurethane foam matrix. Yet another termite bait includes at least one cellulosic food material piece encapsulated within a water resistant polyurethane foam coating. Such termite baits can be used alone or in a monitoring device or other termite control device. Another termite control device includes a container, a cellulosic food material within the container and a water resistant polyurethane foam positioned to separate the food material from its environment. The container can contain a termite bait as described above or can include a chamber containing a cellulosic food material and at least one pocket containing a polyurethane foam barrier to reduce intrusion of water through the pocket to the food material.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING DARKLING BEETLES
Darkling beetles are controlled by providing an effective amount of a fluid composition including an entomopathogenic fungus, to an infested location, using a composition delivery system to periodically apply a determined amount of spores to a specific target location.
Insect Trap
An insect trap includes an exothermic body, and a layered body. The exothermic body is configured to include exothermic powder enclosed in an inner bag that is air permeable; the exothermic powder contains iron powder that releases heat when oxidized. The layered body is configured with layers of plate-like elements and includes gaps as a pathway of entry for an insect pest. A housing space to house the exothermic body is arranged inside the layered body. The layered body and the inner bag are made of a biodegradable raw material.
PEST CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location, providing for the use of an assembly that has a main body with a cylindrical upper portion and a lower portion continuously co-axially formed with the upper portion. The lower portion is formed as blades meeting at a lowermost point and defining a sharp bottom point that helps penetrate the soil in the selected location. A plurality of cellulose-containing bait units are detachably fitted in the lower portion and the upper portion. The bait units fitted in the lower portion are retained by the blade portions, which engage radial slots of the bait units. A moisture-retaining member is positioned in the upper portion above an uppermost of the bait units. A removable cap frictionally fittingly engages with the upper portion. The cap has an opening allowing water to be poured into the main body to moisten the bait units and make them more attractive to foraging insects. If consumption of the cellulose material is detected, the bait units may be substituted with a bait material containing poisonous substance. The pests consume the bait and carry the poison to the colonies.
