Compounds, compositions and methods for attracting and/or arresting bed bugs

Disclosed is a composition of volatile and less-volatile pheromone components that can be used alone or in combination with other compounds to attract and/or arrest bed bugs of both sexes and all developmental stages. This blend can be used to bait traps that are effective in capturing bed bugs in infested premises or can be combined with a pesticide that is lethal to bed bugs.

The present disclosure describes an apparatus, system, and method for trapping and exterminating arthropods, particularly red mites. The apparatus includes an opaque housing and a heat strip configured to have separate temperature zones. The method includes warming the heat strip to lure the mites into the trap, heating outer heat strip segments to drive the mites toward the center of the trap, and then raising the entire heat strip to a temperature sufficient to exterminate the mites. The system includes placing one or more of the traps in animal hold structures, including nesting boxes in poultry houses.

ULTRAVIOLET TREATMENT OF TRANSFORMED COLEOPTERA LARVAE FOR VITAMIN D3 ENRICHMENT

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a beetle powder comprising a light treatment step in which at least one light source emits ultraviolet radiation toward transformed beetle larvae.

PLANT TREATMENT ASSEMBLY AND ASSOCIATED METHOD

Plant heat treatment assembly (100) for elimination of pathogens on living plants, comprising a process chamber (1) with inlet (3) and outlet (5), a pre-chamber (4) with pre-chamber inlet (7) and outlet (6). The pre-chamber outlet communicates with the process chamber inlet. A pump (9) is arranged between the process chamber outlet (5) and the pre-chamber inlet (7), circulating gas through the process chamber. A gas heating arrangement (19) has water steam supply. A choking arrangement (11) is between the pre-chamber and the process chamber. The plant heat treatment assembly (100) has a temperature sensor (45) and an adjustable steam supply valve (21) to govern the supply of water steam based on input from the temperature sensor (45). The choking arrangement (11) is adjustable. A method is also disclosed.

System to sterilize a physical space

A system for sterilizing a physical space, such as a hotel room. The system generates and distributes heated air to the physical space to elevate the temperature of the space to a level sufficient to achieve a desired sterilization effect of eradicating insects and microoganisms. The system is portable and self-contained. The system includes a hydrogen fuel cell that generates electrical power. An electrical system conditions and stores the electrical power and supplies stored electrical power to the system components and peripherals. System components include a source of hydrogen, a heater, an air distributor, and a filter. Peripherals include a UV light source and an aerosol dispenser. The combination of heat, UV light and aerosol disinfectant effectively eradicates insects, microorganisms, allergens, and odors in the physical space.

A portable insect control trap has, in a single portable device, two modes of attracting insects, including a first mode adapted to attract flying insects (e.g. insect-attracting light) and a second mode adapted to attract crawling insects (e.g., bait). The same device has two modes of killing insects, including a first mode adapted to kill flying insects (e.g. an electrified grid) and a second mode adapted to kill crawling insects (e.g. an electric heating element). The first mode of attracting is associated with the first mode of killing, the second mode of attracting is associated with the second mode of killing.

The present invention is about turning the gaseous envelope that encoats, protects certain arthropods from their external environment against them. It teaches to apply radiation to the arthropods body in order to dysfunction the exacting geometry needed to maintain this protective envelope. This absorbed radiation thus makes the arthropod vulnerable to pesticides and other chemical agents. It also interferes with the arthropods ability to adequately breathe through their plastron covering by forcing it to increase its rate of metabolism via this absorbed radiation.
