System and method for bodily fluid capture and preservation
System and associated method for capturing, preserving, and transporting a bodily fluid, including a collection jar having a base body, a lid body, and a cartridge having a plunger therein and disposed in the lid body, the cartridge housing a preservative when the plunger is in a first plunger position and permitting a release of the preservative into an internal cavity of the collection jar when the plunger is in a second plunger position, and a transportation packaging having an outer container, at least one insulation foam support, at least one phase change material bottle, and at least one collection jar holding tray, where the phase change material bottle has an indented portion corresponding to an indented portion of the collection jar holding tray, and where the collection jar is configured for placement in the at least one collection jar holding tray during transportation.
COLD PROTEASE TREATMENT METHOD FOR PREPARING BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES
The present disclosure provides methods of preparing a fixed biological sample for use in an assay, wherein the method includes treatment of the sample with a low temperature active protease, optionally, in combination with an un-fixing reagent. The disclosure also provides assay methods, include partition-based methods, for fixed biological sample that use the low temperature protease treatment in combination with an un-fixing reagent. Kits comprising protease compositions, un-fixing agent compositions, and other assay reagents for use in the methods are also provided.
Hydration media for biological tissue products, methods of making the same and methods of using
A hydration media for biological tissue products, methods of making the same and methods of using the same is provided. The hydration media includes sodium phosphate and calcium silicate and can be used to store or hydrate a biological tissue product.
Methods for the Preservation of Reagent Red Blood Cells Using Carbon Monoxide
This application provides methods, compositions, and kits for use blood group determination and the preparation of improved red blood cell containing reagents for use in blood typing of blood prior to its use in transfusion medicine.
SAMPLE PRESERVATION SOLUTION, AND ANALYSIS DEVICE AND ANALYSIS METHOD USING THE SAME
The present invention provides means with which bile acids, phenols, indoles and organic acids contained in a sample can be stably preserved without cryopreservation of the sample. A sample preservation solution of the present invention is a sample preservation solution used for analyzing at least one component selected from the group consisting of bile acids, phenols, indoles and organic acids contained in a biological or environmental sample, containing at least the following (A) and (B): (A) condensed phosphate or polyoxyethylene sorbitan alkylate; and (B) guanidinium thiocyanate, Tris-HCl (pH 7 to 9), and EDTA.
Reconstitution Solution For Spray-Dried Plasma
The present invention relates to a reconstitution solution for spray dried plasma having a non-anticoagulant compound that does not bind calcium. When the reconstitution solution of the present invention is mixed with spray dry plasma, the reconstituted plasma mediates platelet adhesion and aggregation about the same as or greater than the starting plasma prior to spray drying. The present invention also relates to an assay for determining platelet adhesion and aggregation using microfluidic flow cell system having a shear flow. The assay assesses labeled whole blood samples having reconstituted plasma having spray dried plasma and a reconstitution solution; platelets; and red blood cells. After inducing a shear flow under conditions suitable for clot formation, coverage area of the platelets, intensity of the platelets, morphology, or a combination thereof is detected to determine platelet accumulation (e.g., platelet adhesion and aggregation).

Pluripotent cells
Pluripotent cells that are immunopositive for both the neural progenitor marker nestin and a pluripotent cell marker are provided. The cells exhibit rapid doubling times and can be maintained in vitro for extended periods. Also provided are cell cultures containing the pluripotent cells, a method of transplanting human pluripotent cells to a host, and a method of reducing seizure activity in a subject. These pluripotent cells, when transplanted into the ventricle of a host animal, migrate to the site of damage and adopt a suitably corrective phenotype, resulting in both structural and functional restoration.
OXYGEN COOLING SYSTEM FOR LUNG PRESERVATION
A system for lung preservation is described. The system includes a cooler at least partially housing a cooling coil, the cooling coil including a proximal end configured to connect to an oxygen source and a distal end configured to connect to endotracheal tubing. The endotracheal tubing is in fluid communication with a conduit extending through the cooling coil. A positive end expiratory pressure valve connected to the endotracheal tubing. A method for preserving a lung and a method for preserving a lung for transportation are also described.
SPERM PROCESSING METHOD, APPARATUS AND RELATED MEDIA COMPOSITIONS
Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to processes, systems, and compositions useful in manipulating a ratio of viable X chromosome bearing sperm to viable Y chromosome bearing sperm in at least one sperm population and useful for preserving the resulting manipulated sperm population. In some embodiments a cryoprotectant may be incorporated into various medias used in manipulating the sperm sample, such as in a staining media, a sheath fluid, and a collection media.
