Integrated human organ-on-chip microphysiological systems

The invention provides integrated Organ-on-Chip microphysiological systems representations of living Organs and support structures for such microphysiological systems.

Apparatus for tissue transport and preservation

Systems and methods of the invention generally relate to prolonging viability of bodily tissue, especially an organ such as a lung, by adjusting pressure as needed to maintain a constant pressure within the organ even during external pressure fluctuations due, for example, to transportation of the organ in an airplane. Gas passing into and out of the organ may be conditioned to prolong tissue viability.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EX-VIVO ORGAN CARE AND FOR USING LACTATE AS AN INDICATION OF DONOR ORGAN STATUS

The disclosure provides, in various embodiments, systems, devices and methods relating to ex-vivo organ care. In certain embodiments, the disclosure relates to maintaining an organ ex-vivo at near-physiologic conditions. The present application describes, for example, a method for using lactate measurement in the arterial and the venous blood lines of the Organ Care System Heart perfusion device to evaluate, for example, the: 1) overall perfusion status of an isolated heart; 2) metabolic status of an isolated heart; and 3) overall vascular patency of an isolated donor heart. This aspect of the present disclosure may use, for example, the property of myocardial cell's unique ability to produce/generate lactate when they are starved for oxygen and metabolize/utilize lactate for energy production when they are well perfused with oxygen.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MONITORING A TRANSPLANT

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a biological tissue packaging system, as well as a transport system, and, in some embodiments, comprises a first package, a secondary package, and a tertiary package. Each of the first, second, and tertiary packages is sterilized prior to packaging of a biological tissue therein. The first package comprises a pouch, and a first tray and a first lid configured for removable snap-fit attachment to one another so as to form a clamshell container. The secondary package is configured to contain the first package and interlock therewith. The tertiary package is configured to contain the secondary package and interlock therewith.

SPECIMEN CONTAINER FOR BIOLOGICAL MATERIALS
20170188572 · 2017-07-06 ·

A specimen container for use with biological specimens that includes at least one cylindrical housing, wherein the at least one cylindrical housing is open on one or both ends thereof; at least one cap for sealing the open ends of the at least one cylindrical housing; a syringe plunger adapted for insertion into the at least one cylindrical housing, wherein the syringe plunger is operative to move a biological specimen into the at least one cylindrical housing when the syringe plunger is depressed; and optionally, a linking cuff, wherein the linking cuff is operative to join multiple cylindrical housings to one another and permit mixing of the contents thereof.

Medical Carbon Monoxide Delivery System
20170165446 · 2017-06-15 ·

A medical carbon monoxide generator provides for a solid carbon material that may be heated at substantially normal atmospheric pressure to provide a source of medical quality carbon monoxide. The heating source may be an electrical filament or laser controllable by a microcontroller to provide accurate delivery rates and amounts. In one embodiment, a replaceable cartridge holding the carbon material may be used.

PACKAGING FOR A MEDICAMENT USED FOR INNOVATIVE THERAPY

Disclosed is a product including: a) at least one substance selected from recombinant nucleic acids, single cells and single tissues, the compound being contained in a primary container; and b) a secondary container containing the primary container, the secondary container consisting of an insulating material. Also disclosed is a method for transporting a substance selected from recombinant nucleic acids, single cells and single tissues, which uses the product.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAINTAINING ORGAN PRESSURE

Systems and methods herein generally relate to prolonging viability of bodily tissue, especially an organ, by adjusting pressure as needed to maintain a constant pressure within the organ even during external pressure fluctuations due, for example, to transportation of the organ in an airplane. The systems and methods herein can include an electronic pump that pumps gas into an organ and a mechanical pressure regulator to release gas based on organ pressure.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING OXYGEN CONCENTRATION FOR LUNG PRESERVATION

A system and method for maintaining an oxygen concentration of a biological sample. The oxygen concentration can be maintained by measuring the oxygen concentration within the biological sample and adjusting a rate of an oxygen supplier in response to this measurement. For example, when the oxygen concentration is below a threshold, oxygen can be delivered to the biological sample at a higher rate.
