Method and system operating a controlled atmosphere system
A method is provided for operating a controlled atmosphere (CA) system to regulate the atmosphere in a cargo storage space. The CA system comprises a gas exchange module operable to vary the level of a component gas in the cargo storage space, a control module to control operation of the gas exchange module, and at least one of an oxygen sensor and a carbon dioxide sensor, each being operable to measure a parameter indicative of a level of oxygen or carbon dioxide respectively in the cargo storage space. The method comprises: the control module determining a respiration parameter value indicative of the rate of change of oxygen level and/or the rate of change of carbon dioxide level in the cargo storage space due to respiration of goods in the cargo storage space; and the control module controlling operation of the gas exchange module based on the determined respiration parameter value to target an oxygen level setpoint and/or a carbon dioxide level setpoint.
Low-wetting electrostatic application device and associated method
An electrostatic device that includes: an air flow regulator system including a pressure regulator and an air flow regulator; a liquid flow regulating system including a set of restrictors; an electrostatic system including an electrostatic emission antenna and an insulating hood of the electrostatic emission antenna; an air-liquid nozzle that is separated from the electrostatic emission antenna; a tank; a positive displacement pump and a low-wetting electrostatic application method.
Automatical in situ control of the confined environment of metabolically active produce
A control system for controlling the storage of metabolically active produce in a defined confined environment. The control system comprises gas analyzing and pressure measurement means including a control unit for determining an adjusted gas medium composition of the confined environment for protecting the produce against metabolic degradation. An operating/actuating means for adapting the gas medium in the confined storage environment is based on the determined adjusted gas medium composition. The control unit is adapted for determining the adjusted gas medium composition based on a mathematical model of the system that determines a metabolic coefficient of the produce by combining measured changes of gas composition in the confined environment with dynamic pressure changes in the confined space. The value of the metabolic coefficient is used as input for a control algorithm to continuously adjust the gas composition in the confined space in response to the metabolic activity of the produce.

Composition and method for active packaging and storage of fresh plant products
The present invention relates to a composition and method for active packaging of fresh plant products, in particular fresh plant based food products. The invention also relates to means for storage of fresh plant products and to a method for continuous production and controlled release of volatile oxidation products of lipids in packages or in the vicinity of fresh plant based goods.
METHOD FOR THE STORAGE OF POTATO COMPRISING TREATMENT BY ETHYLENE AND 1-METHYLCYCLOPROPENE
A method of storing potatoes includes providing a plurality of dormant potatoes, wherein the potatoes have been cured after harvesting; in a first treatment step, treating the potatoes with 1-methylcyclopropene by exposing the potatoes, which are at a first treatment temperature within the range of from 10 to 30° C., to 1-methylcyclopropene; storing the potatoes at a second storage temperature within the range of from 4 to 15° C.; and in a subsequent second treatment step during the storing step, treating the potatoes with ethylene by exposing the potatoes, which are at the second storage temperature, to ethylene.
IN-LINE SPRAYING SYSTEM VIA ULTRASOUND, WHICH CAN BE USED IN THE DISPENSING OF AGROCHEMICAL AGENTS FOR POST-HARVEST FRUIT
An in-line spraying system via ultrasound, which can be used in the dispensing of agrochemical agents for post-harvest fruit, which has a spray chamber formed by a closed tank containing the liquid to be sprayed, an agitator, two ultrasound transducers and a fan; a chamber for applying the mist to the fruit, formed by a closed chamber disposed on the processing line, which has gates with slats for allowing the fruit in and out, a cylindrical applicator for the agrochemical, which is connected to the spray chamber via a duct; and a chamber for recovering the mist, formed by a closed tank coupled to the application chamber, below the Processing line, which is connected to the spray chamber via a duct, and wherein the recovered mist is moved by the fan. A process for operating the system is also disclosed.
