EDIBLE COMPOSITION FOR ALLEVIATING VISUAL FATIGUE
The present invention provides an edible composition for alleviating visual fatigue. The composition comprises in parts by weight 1 to 10 parts of curcuma powder, 1 to 12 parts of whole coffee fruit extract, 1 to 20 parts of phospholipid composite, 1 to 15 parts of DHA, 0.5 to 5 parts of phosphatidylserine, and 0.1 to 5 parts of vitamin C. After one week of trial consumption by the subject, the duration of photopic vision is improved with a significant difference in comparison with that before the trial; after 2 weeks of trial consumption, the overall score of visual fatigue symptoms decreases with a significant difference in comparison with that before the trial; after 8 weeks of trial consumption by the subject, the vision field thereof is remarkably enlarged, indicating the formulation may prevent the occurrence of glaucoma. The coffee extract combined with the remaining ingredients has a synergistic effect.
Composition comprising ethyl vanillin as effective ingredient for exhibiting effect of muscle strengthening, muscle enhancement, muscle differentiation, muscle regeneration, or sarcopenia suppression
The present invention relates to a composition comprising ethyl vanillin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an effective ingredient for preventing or treating muscle disease or for improving a muscle function. Having the capability of upregulating the expression of a protein associated with muscle protein synthesis and muscle mass increase in myocytes and downregulating at an mRNA level the expression of an enzyme involved in muscle protein degradation, ethyl vanillin can exhibit effects of muscle differentiation, muscle regeneration, and muscle strengthening through an increase in muscle mass against muscle diseases attributed to muscle function decrease, muscle consumption, or muscle degradation and can suppress sarcopenia. Thus, ethyl vanillin can be used for preventing or treating muscle diseases or for promoting muscle differentiation, muscle regeneration and muscle strengthening, muscle mass increase, or muscle generation or for improving muscle function.

Zeaxanthin Formulations With Additional Ocular-Active Nutrients, For Protecting Eye Health And Treating Eye Disorders
Oral formulations for promoting eye health, and in particular for preventing or treating macular degeneration, are disclosed, containing zeaxanthin, a carotenoid pigment, and at least two or more additional ocular-active nutrients selected from lipoic acid, omega-3 fatty acids, plant-derived compounds such as flavonoids, anthocyanins, or polyphenolics, taurine, carnitine, Coenzyme-Q10, carnosine, and nutrients that stimulate the production of glutathione. Processes are disclosed for identifying ocular-active nutrients that will interact in a synergistic and potentiating manner with zeaxanthin, to provide better and more effective protection, for eye health, than can be provided by zeaxanthin alone. Additional optional agents include zinc, vitamin E, and vitamin C.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS
The present invention provides nutritional supplements comprising alginate, in combination with pectin, which will form hydrogels in the stomach when exposed to the low pH of the gastric juice. The formation of a hydrogel will lead to delayed release of sugars and other active ingredients in the stomach. The nutritional supplements can comprise high concentrations of sugars and complex carbohydrates without causing unwanted gastrointestinal symptoms.
