A method for manufacturing a smoking article is also provided.

TAGGANT DETECTION AND REJECTION METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method of manufacturing a component for an aerosol-generating article including a taggant is provided, the method including the steps of: applying the taggant to the component; detecting an amount of the taggant that the component comprises; determining whether the detected amount of the taggant is less than a first-predetermined amount; and rejecting the component when the detected amount of the taggant is less than the first-predetermined amount. An apparatus for manufacturing a component for an aerosol-generating article including a taggant is also provided. A kit of parts is also provided.

METHOD OF COATING TIPPING PAPER FOR SMOKING ARTICLE AND SMOKING ARTICLE MANUFACTURED ACCORDING THERETO

An embodiment of the present disclosure provides a smoking article including a smoking material portion which is wrapped with a smoking material wrapper, a filter portion which has an upstream end combined with the smoking material portion and is wrapped with a filter wrapper, and a tipping paper which wraps around the filter portion and at least a portion of the smoking material portion so that the smoking material portion and the filter portion are combined, wherein a design printing layer, an overprint (OP) coating layer, and a sweetener coating layer are disposed on a surface of the tipping paper.

Method for applying register marks to wrapping paper for smoking articles
11241033 · 2022-02-08 · ·

The invention relates to a method for marking a wrapping paper for smoking articles, comprising the following steps: (A) providing a wrapping paper for smoking articles, and (B) producing register marks on the wrapping paper by treating the surface of the wrapping paper with laser radiation having an energy density y in J-m-2, to which the following applies: y=k.Math.x, whereby x is the enthalpy of combustion per volume of the wrapping paper in J.Math.m.sup.−2.Math.μm.sup.−1, and k is at least −8 μm and at most −1 μm.

A Smoking Article with a Heated Segment Comprising a Tobacco Product
20230380476 · 2023-11-30 · ·

The invention relates to a smoking article with a distal end and a mouth end, that extends in a circumferential direction and a longitudinal direction to form a cylindrical shape. Along the longitudinal direction from the distal to the mouth end at least one heated segment comprising tobacco or reconstituted tobacco binder (RTB), at least one cooling segment comprising a cylindrically shaped cooler material and a filter segment are arranged. The three sections create a flow path from the distal to the mouth end, wherein the heated segment, the cooling segment and the filter segment are at least in part enclosed by a first wrapper. The heated segment comprises at least one second wrapper. A smoking article is characterized in that the second wrapper is coated with a tobacco product comprising tobacco particles having an average particle size of 30 μm and a dispersion medium for dispersing the tobacco particles.

Smoking article having hidden indicia
11832641 · 2023-12-05 · ·

Smoking articles include a marking that includes an indicia that is hidden when viewed from certain angles and visually distinct when viewed from other angles. The marking may be provided on a wrapper, such as a plug wrap, a smokable material wrap, or a tipping paper wrap. The marking may include aligned embossed and printed features with a portion being misaligned. The marking may include a coloured adjacent or surrounding region into which the indica may be hidden and from which it may appear, depending on the viewing angle. The marking may allow a consumer to identify the smoking article as genuine, as opposed to counterfeit.

Method for Applying Register Marks to Wrapping Paper for Smoking Articles
20200187553 · 2020-06-18 ·

The invention relates to a method for marking a wrapping paper for smoking articles, comprising the following steps: (A) providing a wrapping paper for smoking articles, the wrapping paper comprising pulp fibers, and (B) producing markings on the wrapping paper by means of at least one of the following steps: (B.1) removing material from the wrapping paper, (B.2) mechanically changing the wrapping paper, (B.3) treating the surface of the wrapping paper with laser radiation having an energy density y in J-m.sup.2, to which the following applies: y=kx. x is the enthalpy of combustion per volume of the wrapping paper in J-m.sup.2 m-1, and k is at least 8 m, preferably at least 7 m and especially preferably at least 6 m, and at most 1 m, preferably at most 2 m and especially preferably at most 2.5 m. Either repeating structures are produced on the wrapping paper in a step (C) such that each structure is at a fixed distance in the machine direction relative to at least one marking, or in step (A) a wrapping paper is provided which has repeating structures in the machine direction, and the markings are produced on the wrapping paper in step (B) in such a way that each marking is at a fixed distance in the machine direction relative to at least one structure.

The invention relates to a nano-embossed mouthpiece lining paper which has a lacquer layer comprising nitrocellulose or ethyl cellulose, wherein the lacquer layer is either a clear lacquer layer or a colored lacquer layer and is provided with a nano-structure by mechanical embossing.

Method and Device for Applying Identification Features to a Packing Strip in Order to Authenticate the Process Packing, Processed Packing and Packing
20180220698 · 2018-08-09 ·

In the method for applying identification features to a packing strip in order to authenticate the processed packing, the packing strip is fed in a packing line to an embossing station, where logos of all kinds and/or codes and/or a satin finish and/or fold lines are embossed at the cycle rate of the packing machine by means of embossing rollers by deforming the packing strip, Identification: features and possibly other features are produced additionally on the packing strip on-line, in the same process step, and synchronously to the cycle rate by material removal by means of a feature setup comprising a laser installation, the packing strip having a thickness of 50 m to 300 m. The thus treated packing strip is subsequently further processed. Due to the fact that the feature setup for producing the identification features is provided in addition to the embossing rollers but operates in the same process step, all known embossing rollers can be used, and due to the application of lasers for producing the features, e.g. a consecutive numbering can be produced, thereby ensuring a secure authentication method without the need of changing substantially the embossing station comprising a housing with at least two embossing rolls, or lowering the processing speed.
